A New Month and a few Treats

I am so happy to change the page on my calendar to March. I know the weather won't magically change overnight to warm and sunny but we are getting closer. To celebrate the new month I bought myself another cheery Primrose. (As you can see the Primroses that I bought a week or so ago (Obconica) are still blooming)

And a jar of Bonne Maman Apricot jam and a couple of jars of Marmalade. These are treats for me because as a rule I make all our jams etc... Also I have a little collection of the Bonne Maman jars which I reuse. I like the pretty red-and-white checked tops.

Although it's not raining it's overcast and 8*C  (47F) so it's not exactly warm outside.  The forecast for the week is gloomy and full of days of rain.  Oh well, I'm sure I'll find lots that I can do inside.

What does your week hold?  I hope it's a good one.

Thanks for coming by,  G.M.

  2. Those bright blooms will cheer you during the dreary week! The marmalades look so good. Sunshine in a jar!

  3. Yes, March will be needing a little help when it comes to bright cheerful colors. You did good in choosing the new primrose. I also like your colorful little jelly jars. I have several that I have collected over the years. I am hoping the weather will be nice enough to pull some weeds this week. I think they liked the snow.

  4. Another beautiful primrose! So bright and happy looking. We're not supposed to have any precipitation this week. I'll believe it when I see it as we had snow almost everyday last week! It is supposed to get up to the low 50's later in the week. It was 40F today and cloudy but I'll take it as no white stuff fell out of those clouds.
Our big news is that Dennis gets his first vaccination tomorrow. It's unexpected as the appointment kind of fell into his lap so to speak. I'm so glad. One step closer to being normal again! Now I just have to get it.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  8. I like to reuse glass jars, especially pretty ones, or those who have pretty lids. Glad February is over. Which one comes in like a lion and out like a lamb, is it March? I've seen some Hyacinths just poking out a wee bit, those smell so lovely.

  9. Apricot is my favourite. How nice that you can get Bonne Maman in the US.

  10. The primroses are very beautiful, the colors do so well.
I have tulips in the vase, they are available in the grocery discouter and the tulips come from the Netherlands.
We had some wonderful warm days from snow to spring ... unusually up to 20 degrees ... now it's normal 4 degrees again. Of course we enjoyed the weather and were in nature. Now I'm going to get the sewing machine out again.
    Warm regards to you.
P.S. I love jam, best homemade.
    Have a good time. Viola

  11. It's supposed to be another cloudy/rainy week here too. Very unusual for us to have such a long stretch of it. Like you say, it is a good time to make indoor accomplishments. Your primroses are beautiful and just the bright touch of color I am needing this morning. We received a Bonne Maman advent calendar for Christmas. I can't bear to toss those cute little jars. I now have a collection with no idea what I'll do with them :).

    1. Those very small jars are not as useful as the bigger ones but if you scrapbook they're handy for keeping small bits in I suppose.

  12. I would save those jars, too! I like the lid and the shape. That primrose is so bright and cheerful it makes me smile. We have sunshine today...I need it!

  14. Happy 1st of March! Lovely to be able to change the calender over to a new month! Your primroses are so cheery! Do you plant them out into your garden later on and are they perennial in your climate? I have taken out my potting soil this morning and am going to try growing double petunias from seed - I never realized that the seeds were so incredibly tiny - now let's hope I have some luck with them germinating! It's -28C windchill again today so I have to work at creating some feelings of Spring!

    1. I do plant the Primroses out eventually. Sometimes they thrive and sometimes they don't. I hope your double Petunias germinate and do well.

  15. The primrose is so pretty - enough to cheer anyone.
Like the jam jar lids and see why you would save them.

  16. I've never had good luck with primroses. They always wilt and die. Yours are lovely. I'm not a big fan of marmalade, but my mom love it! I would keep the jar with the checkered lid too!

  17. 6 inches of rain around here last night! Whew! School this week and some clear weather is on the schedule. I reuse all kinds of jars.

  18. Oh, we are sunny and 57 degrees here today. I'll try to send you some your way.

  19. Primroses are great to brighten up the day! I had one on the table, next day I wondered why the flowers looked so weird. Some of them were half. Then I remembered we had the same problem last year - our cat was eating the flowers at night. So if I want to keep them I have to put them on a high shelf at night :) We have lovely sunny spring weather now.

    1. I've always believed that Primroses were toxic for cats but either that is incorrect or you just have a cat with high resistance to whatever it is that could cause harm. Good idea to put it up high for night.

  20. We can buy Bonne Maman jam here too. I love the shape of the jars as well as the lids, but I don't make jam any more (not for a few years now, anyway).
Does your primrose have scent - I have found that yellow ones often do. And I do love your March picture.
Enjoy your rain LOL, snuggle into bed with a good book :) xx

  21. It is gray and probably rainy today, but 3 of us church ladies are going on an outing to a wildlife refuge in the next county!! I'm excited for a few hours out with friends.
Did you read that the Bonne Maman company helped Jews in France in WW2? I read about it online. So now I'm buying their jam too :) It's yummy, and the jars are great. I've noticed you reuse them -- good idea!
I LOVE how you buy flowers to bring joy to your life. That's so sweet.

  22. It was a gloomy day here too but we got up to 35 F...so that was great! That Primrose is ever so pretty!

  23. Hi GM! That IS good jam, I agree!
My mom has been speaking of primroses, too!
    Sending love and sunny wishes!

  24. Flowers and sweet jams! Very uplifting! Even weather in the 40's is a nice change for us, but at least it's been very sunny. I wonder if the farmers will bemoan the lack of precipitation this year, or if we'll have more snow before the month is over. I have mixed feeling about that, lol. God bless and hugs!
