I found some interesting pieces at the thrift store. I'm not sure what the long one is for but the three smaller ones look like butter knives (?). I like the way the handles have been wrapped with wire and coloured glass. DH drilled holes in them and eldest daughter brought fine wire to attach them. I hung it in front of my garden shed.
It's odd. The blades are shiny but in the picture they're black.
We have a very busy squirrel who brings nuts from way down the street to bury in our yard. Once in a while it takes a break and sits on the lawn swing to eat and keep up his energy. I foresee many Hazelnut and Horse Chestnut trees needing to be pulled out next year.
We're continuing with our cool days. I was out doing some gardening earlier and a very light rain began falling. I hope we get a significant amount.
Thanks for visiting, GM
Yes, autumn is coming, hooray! What a funny squirrel! I love your "culinary wind chime" - what a cute idea.
ReplyDeleteThey are pretty knives and it’s a good idea!
ReplyDeleteI love the squirrel, I have one here, our squirrels are brown.
I hope your rain keeps falling. We sure could use a good soaking too! The squirrel looks quite happy to spend time in your lovely yard.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea to hang the pretty knives up as yard art! I love to repurpose things like that too! Hopefully you are all experiencing some relief from the smoke and heat, as we are. We are happy to see the season of fall on the horizon!
ReplyDeleteLove the hanging gadget...like a suncatcher!!
ReplyDeleteÍ also love watching squirrels & their frenzied antics. Cute photo
Nice to have a little Squirrel visit G.M. It will be Spring here in four days time- this'l be great. Regards. KEV.
ReplyDeleteA light rain sounds so lovely! And "Autumn is coming." Oh, how I wish! It did feel a little bit cooler this morning. There was a mist all around, rising from the ground. But the days are up in the 90s, with heat indexes above 100.
ReplyDeleteYour squirrel friend is so industrious! It must be fun to watch him. I wonder why the pick the spots they do, to bury things?
It made me smile to see the squirrel eating on the chair. :)
ReplyDeletePretty windchime! What a nice project!
ReplyDeleteI like your squirrel photograph.
ReplyDeleteWe have squirrels visit our garden, I know they are not everybody's favourite but I always enjoy watching their antics.
All the best Jan
What a funny sweet squirrel :) The photo is really a wonder!
ReplyDeleteThe windchime looks special nice. So great, that your family helped to arrange it very decortative in front of the house --- good teamwork and a good idea!
Such a fun and beautiful make. Hope you get the rain that you are hoping for.
ReplyDeleteThat's funny about having to pull up lots of little nut trees. Squirrels are funny. Dan has been out chasing one this morning that keep eating the suet cake he puts out for the woodpeckers. Your project with the fancy wrapped knives is very pretty. I need to make a trip to the thrift store. It's been a while. Hope you get the rain you need.
ReplyDeleteHi GM! My mom was so happy that they had some rain, too! I love the beaded knives!
ReplyDeleteI added some links to Angela's blog on my last post. Fixed!
I love the wind chimes! I think the knives look dark because of a reflection. :) Cute squirrel! I hope the trees he's planting don't take over, lol. I'm farm-sitting while my daughter and her family are way down south (Minneapolis) for a wedding. Hope your cool weather continues! :)
ReplyDeleteI have a butter knife just like yours. I don't remember now where I even got it, but I was drawn to the beadwork on it. I use it as a spreader for putting spreadable cheeses/dips on crackers. I like the creative idea you used yours for. Perfect to hang in front of your garden shed.
ReplyDeleteHow funny that the squirrel is bringing you so many "wonderful" gifts.
How clever you are! Does it have a lovely sound when the wind blows?
ReplyDeleteWhat unusual thrift shop finds - they look more like works of art than actual useable utensils. I like the way you have hung them up to display them :) xx
ReplyDeleteGirl, talk about squirrels! I have tons of them in my yard! Mercy! Happy week to you. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteThe decoration with the knives are so nice! Cute and busy squirrel :)
ReplyDeleteYes autumn is coming...the evenings are darker the mornings are so chilly. So cute squirrel, so much cuter than my viper in the garden!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely week :)
Titti
Autumn is definitely making her presence felt with the cooler mornings and falling daylight. My garden is doing better now than it was in all that heat. I'm hoping for lots of rain, too.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of hanging the pretty knives up as yard art! How clever!
ReplyDeleteHappy Tuesday!
I have never seen anything quite like those knives...I love them.
