The weather continues to be wet and rather dreary. I decided to go to the thrift store yesterday mainly to get out of the house for a while. I did find a few treasures. We use coasters often and I saw these pretty ones for a dollar.. We'll get a lot of use from them.
A while back I was given a wire mannequin about 4'' high. I found this smaller one and I plan on putting both of them out among my flowers once the weather turns pleasant. It's not really crooked. I must have been holding the camera crooked.
One last item that I found was this lovely wintery tea pot. I seem to have a thing for tea pots. They appeal to me and I think I'll start showing my tea pots instead of teacups for a while.
Whatever your day holds I hope it's a good one. G.M.
Reply to Happyone who wondered how long I've been collecting teacups. It must have started 10 or 15 years ago. I'm not too sure.
Ohhhh, beautiful tea pot. Yes, I'd like to see THAT collection also.
ReplyDeleteYou DO find some terrific items when thrifting!
Thanks for answering my question. That is a good long time. No wonder you have so many beautiful teacups.
ReplyDeleteThe thrift store we have near where I live is not so great. I stopped going.
That's a really lovely teapot.
ReplyDeleteEXACT the poem of Charles dickens here in Germany makes during these weeks our March!! The sun shines hot, it is very dry, but the dry wind is cold and the nights are frosty. In the shade it is winter. The sky is wonderful blue! And in the morning the light is very strong and gives good energy to jump from the bed into the day! :))) - - - -
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this teapot! Beautiful blue colour!
The hangers are funny. Somebody found time to make simplest things of wire really valuable :)) - -
Oh I love the blue of that teapot. Very pretty!
ReplyDeleteMy mother used to cover coathangers all the time, either with knitting, crochet, or fabric. She used to donate a lot of them to charity but I still have quite a few in my wardrobe.
ReplyDeleteCharles Dickens certainly got it right with that saying :)
Hi, you sure did find some lovely things. The coasters are very pretty and the mannikins will look so cute in the garden. The hangers are pretty too. I think I may have one. Rainy here lately also. Nancy
ReplyDeletePlease donshow your teapots! I would love to see them.
ReplyDeleteWe are pretty soggy over here also, GM! We really need the rain badly. So I'm inside today, doing little chores and creative things. Nice finds! Those hangers are a little tacky looking, but who cares when they keep your blouses off the floor, right?!!
ReplyDeleteI do remember hangers like that, but I don't think I've seen them at the thrift shops. Will start paying more attention.
ReplyDeleteThat is a very pretty tea pot.
I look forward to seeing the mannequin in your garden. Won't be long now. Happy Spring.
I've been reading your blog all along but was having problems being able to comment. Happy to say the problem has been solved.
You found some wonderful treasures while thrifting. I never seem to find much. We also use coasters all of the time. The ones you found are very pretty and a steal at $1. The teapot collection will be fun to see. I used to have some, but gave them all to the thrift store when we moved.
ReplyDeleteTake care and have a lovely day.
Blessings,B

Yes, I know that sort of hangers. My grandma made them :-)
ReplyDeleteI remember learning to make those hangers as a project in Pioneer Girls!

Ooohh! I love the coasters! What a great find! I've never seen the covered hangers in the thrift stores, but I've made them, both with yarn and fabric. I have three my mom made in the 1960s that I treasure, they hold the three slippery blouses I have. I always enjoy seeing your tea cups ... this new tea pot is certainly unusual and very pretty! I look forward to seeing more of them! Have a blessed day, GM!
ReplyDeleteThat Dicken's quote certainly describes March around here. I've been enjoying the sunshine when it's out but wearing warm clothes. :)
ReplyDeleteThis wire doll is great... it will look wonderful between the flower beds :-)))
ReplyDeleteI would love to browse your second hand shop with you :-)
Hug Viola
What a pretty teapot!
ReplyDeleteLove the dark blue teapot. I noticed the hangers with yarn, I bet they do work well for some items.
ReplyDeleteLovely teapot
ReplyDeleteGood finds at the thrift shop. Lovely birds on the coasters and the blue teapot is sooooooo pretty. Crocheting around metal hangers was almost the first thing I learned to do when I learned to crochet as a kid. They are quite helpful for keeping things from sliding off the hangers. I've not seen one though in a long time. Should make myself a note, would be a good way to use up some odds and ends of left over yarn.
ReplyDeleteI remember those types of hangers and they used to be popular to make. I have not seen any in a long time. Your coasters are so sweet looking. That is a pretty wire mannequin. Such a lovely tea pot! You must have such a good store to be able to finds such great things! So many stores here lately have been picked over
ReplyDeleteCertainly good finds at the thrift shop.
ReplyDeleteI do like the wintery tea pot.
All the best Jan
