I found a curious zinnia growing with the rather ordinary ones. I don't think I've ever seen one bloom growing right on top of another. Maybe someone else knows or at least has had this happen.
The bees seem to love the zinnias.
I wanted to show you this lovely bowl which eldest daughter gave me this week. Underneath is written Rio Salado----- hand painted in Spain. The 'dots' all around the top stand out from the surface. It's too big for a salad bowl but I don't mind having it empty so I can admire the pattern.
Here's a lovely Autumn picture that I found on the INTERNET. It's not my picture but I think it's lovely.
Thanks for popping by, GM
Beautiful bowl!! And the zinnia is definitely a prize!!
ReplyDeleteYour beautiful bowl would look lovely with lemons in.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I think Nature likes to throw us a curve-ball and give us something unusual to muse about, and this flower is certainly unusual. I actually think it is quite pretty - as is the design in your new bowl :)
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful bowl! Zinnias are in bloom here, too, but I've never seen a double one like the one you showed us. The bees like them very much. I'm still resisting much autumn decor, but I know the season is coming soon.
ReplyDeleteThat zinnia is stunning. I've never seen one like it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful bowl.
The zinnia yellow/red really is a miracle!
ReplyDeleteI love the little bees in the flowers.
The bowl is wonderful. Lovely Spain decoration. Empty or full: always a gem!
The autumn decoration is romantic.
Many greetings from Dori. Still my google picture does not work :(
ReplyDeleteYour special zinnia is beautiful. I hope you can save some seeds from it to see if you can have some more like that next year.
ReplyDeleteAren't zinnias great! Mine are always just covered with small butterflies and all kinds of bees, and hummingbirds and at certain times of day the goldfinches come to pull the petals off of many of the flowers to get at the seeds. As I am taking out the zinnias while they are still green but not looking so great, there are always at least two or three big preying mantis in among the zinnia stems and leaves
Your beautiful bowl is gorgeous. I think a lot of workmanship must have gone into that.
Oh I love your blue bowl....that is a real beauty! Love that zinnia you show too, with the two colors. Wow. That's a new one on me. I looked up double-decker zinnias online and they showed a few examples, but none as pretty as yours!
ReplyDeleteYour zinnias -- and bees! -- are lovely. I haven't seen a zinnia like that double colored one, either. Maybe you should save its seeds and see if you can get more like it next year. It could be called "Granny's Zinnia."
ReplyDeleteI love the bowl, too. :-)
I am going to grow zinnias next year! I don't know WHY I haven't done that before! Your unique double bloom is awesome!
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful zinnia. I've never seen one like that before either, but it's gorgeous. That's a beautiful bowl too. It almost looks like Polish Pottery.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
That "sport" zinnia is very cool. Save the seed and see if it is fertile and if it will replicate itself. Does the bottom flower have seed?
ReplyDeleteWe find Zinnias are great fall flowers!
ReplyDeleteThe zinnia are beautiful...the bees even more so. I seen exactly one bee in my yard this entire summer! That bowl is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty Zinnia. That bowl is beautiful and I really love that Fall arrangement. Simple but yet so elegant to me. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteThat is such a pretty zinnia and so unusual. I've never seen one bloom like that.
ReplyDeleteThere is a technical term for it...I forget what a Chimera maybe...two colors on one flower usually half and half...the seed will revert back to what was normal:)
ReplyDeletemy blog has been hijacked. I don't know what happened. It's just not there. I'll keep you posted.
