Sand and Cookies

We walked in a very gray world this morning but we didn't get rained on. Yesterday we had a       much-needed rain and more is in the forecast.
First thing I did after walking I went to the thrift store. I was looking for cat toys to keep the last little kitten from getting bored.  The mama cat isn't much of a playmate for him. I found a few items and will keep looking for more.
While walking around the store and looking at stuff I saw that someone must have donated their sand collection.  There was a neat row of labelled containers filled with sand. I can only remember the label on the first jar...Lake Superior.

When I got home from the thrift store I mixed up a batch of Gingersnaps using Lorrie's recipe.
(She has a recipe blog , Pass to the Left,  as well as her regular blog which is Fabric Paper Thread).
DH and middle son have already tasted the cookies and pronounced them delicious.

I hope you're having a good day. Thanks for coming by, GM

  1. How interesting to find jars of sand so neatly labeled. I'm glad the cookies made the grade at your place. Today is rather wet here and I'm waiting for a break in the rain before going out to walk.

  3. Good work you do for the kitten. Mamacat needs some rest - - we know!! :)))

O my son has also a big collection of sand!! Nice bottles from nearly all over the globe. And each sand has a personal story.

    Thank you for the weather-informations!

We had another sunny day but rain is on the way tomorrow. Will probably be walking in the rain!

  5. I haven't made gingersnaps in a long time... tomorrow might be a good day to rectify that! We had beautiful weather today but rain is in the forecast for tomorrow.

  7. That sand collection reminds me of my mama, she had a big jar filled with layers of sand from different places she traveled. It was really rather pretty all the different shades and colors of sand. I can just imagine how lovely you're home smells with those warm cookies cooling on the rack.

  8. Gingersnaps are one of our favorite cookies. Yours are perfect! How wonderful that you are getting rain again. We got a good soaking last night. We slept well.

  9. I hope some homeschooling family or even a "regular" schoolteacher might happen upon the sand collection. My own collection has not been updated with the various sands I collected last October in the Great Basin -- I should tend to it soon!

  11. Ginger cookies! One of my favorites. Image cookie sandwiches...two cookies with cream cheese filling. Yum.

  12. Every beach I visit (and New Zealand has a lot of them!) has different sand on it. I find it fascinating and have my own small collection :)

  13. Those cookies look really good. We had a nice gentle rain on Monday and could definitely use more. That sand collection is quite interesting. I hope someone wants it for what it is and not just for the jars and tosses the sand! That would be awful.
    Blessings,
    Betsy
