Feeling Sheepish

Every year we bring out our very old nativity set (creche). We started with one shepherd and a couple of sheep but it seems every year a few more are added. Some I made, some I found at thrift stores, the tiniest one I found in the little lending library near the park. It was hand made and left with a note that whoever found it could have it. So it came home with me. In the second picture it's the one in the right corner of the stable behind Joseph.  With so many sheep we've had to add 2 more shepherds and this year we added an alpaca, or maybe it's a llama.

Thank you for visiting,

Granny M

  1. How sweet that your flock of sheep keeps growing and to hear how you add them, and of course more shepherds needed too.

  2. What a beautiful nativity set (I am finding it so hard to find one that is really nice), and I love the idea of adding to it each year :)

  3. Hi G.M. ...I like your Nativity Scene with all the Sheep. I just assembled our Nativity Scene in our Lounge Room- something I do each year- our set is a beaut -all hand painted and I've not seen another like it- it is all just perfect. Best Wishes. KEV.

  10. Love your Nativity set and all the sheep. Today I attended a meeting for Franciscans and since Saint Francis made the first ever Nativity Scene....we took clay and made ornaments for a bare creche. everybody was assigned a different figure....I got to make a shepherd and a sheep. It turned out awesome. Many were much more talented than I! Such a fun way to celebrate Christmas coming soon.

  11. What a sweet flock of sheep for your nativity set. Ours is hand-carved wood from Ecuador, and I very much enjoy bringing it out each year.
