SNOW

It snowed overnight and all morning. My eye appointment was cancelled, schools closed as well as libraries and many other services.  We may have broken a record for the amount of snow in one 24 hour period.

On the lower left side of the picture you can see our make-shift bird feeder. Because of Miss Kitty we have had to put all feeders high enough so she can't get at the birds. That's an upside down garbage can lid  with a suet feeder.  I counted 11 different species of birds as we sat in the sunroom and watched them come and go.

Here she's looking at the feeder that DH put up just before the storm. I think she's trying to decide if she could possibly leap across.

So it's a quiet day. We defrosted the extra fridge in the buttery. It's an old manual defrost one and it really needed doing. Don't ask me why 2 old people need 2 fridges but they are sure handy to have.
So now I can put my feet up and enjoy the afternoon. I hope you're also having a lovely day.

Thanks for visiting,  G.M.

  4. Have to admit I always chuckle a little when Abbotsford shuts down after a little snow!

  5. What a biiiig amount of snow! Loverly White before Christmas!! Like a dream! Kitty is a clever cat, she had to learn to be a good fighter, but your dear husband is a little bit cleverer! :) I'm sorry to tell, that we expect rain....the snow was so clean and beautiful.

  6. We were watching the progress of the snow as it spread across the northern tier and gradually crept southward. Our son got a foot of snow in Friday Harbor. We eventually got just under an inch, but the temperature dropped rapidly and now we have ice.

  7. It's been a quiet day here, too. I don't know if things will be moving by tomorrow, either.

  8. The snow is beautiful!!!! It's a major event when Texas gets snow - or ICE! Even worse!
We have one big fridge and two small ones. I just discovered that Louis Dean has a mini fridge in his storage building. He is a sneaky one! It's stocked with beer!

  9. Two fridges - well... so you can defrost one while the other is cooling :-)))
Your Santas are so great...I love them.
The masses of snow paralyze everything... but it looks fabulous - what wonderful photos.
It's 0 degrees now and it's raining, that means black ice... for now.
The Christmas tree has been bought and will be set up in the living room the day after tomorrow... Pure joy...
I wish you a wonderful Christmas time. Hug of Viola

  10. Wow- that certainly is a lot of Snow there GM. We don't have Snow here- closest we get is a light Frost in the middle of Winter and that is about it. Stay warm and well there in Canada. Cheers. KEV.

  12. That is a lot of snow and looks so pretty. It's got me dreaming of a white Christmas, although that is very unlikely to happen.
I like the way you are protecting the birds from Miss Kitty.

  13. Oh, what a winter wonderland you have. It's really beautiful but just a bother I know. The big Arctic blast is heading our way. Take care and enjoy watching the birds.
