I know there's another day this month/year but I feel like it's over and done. I'm ready to face 2025. Today things are getting back to normal. I'm doing laundry and I just popped an Impossible Pumpkin pie into the oven. I had thawed pumpkin that needed using so that's the reason. Really there are leftover sweets from Christmas but I think we're tired of those now.
We had a lovely walk this morning. It continues to be quite mild and the rain has held off. Yesterday we walked at Willband and saw so many swans on the water; too many to count!!
I know some of you follow Diane Shiffer on YouTube. I see she has a lovely new post. She's going to be putting out these longer vlogs (?) as opposed to the 5 minute ones she's done so far.
Do you have plans for New Year's Eve? We used to go over to friend's but nowadays we just stay home and by midnight are fast asleep. The honking of horns and general noise at midnight usually wakes me up briefly but I soon fall back asleep.
That's it for today. Thanks for visiting.
Your New Year's Eve sounds just like ours. I'm very happy to be tucked away safely at home. The pumpkin pie sounds delish. I sent most of our holiday treats home with the kids. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteGlad you were able to take a nice walk. I do hope your foot is doing better.
ReplyDeleteWe are quite content with no plans on NYE. I think I'll make a healthy vegetable based soup and pair it with a few of the lingering goodies. Like you, I am ready for a fresh start. I'll keep my decorations in place until the weekend and then it's time to get back to "normal".
Today is our housekeeping and laundry day also, and I have come to rest at the computer for a bit, as walking, especially the back and forth of housework and cooking, is getting harder, and exhausting after an hour or so. I think it will be dry tomorrow and we plan to get outside for a walk. I miss that.
ReplyDeleteWe always used to go to a movie on New Years Eve, until Covid put a stop to that. Now we just stay home and watch the Space Needle fireworks on TV.
New year's eve will hopefully happen without us even knowing; we should be fast asleep in bed. Mind you, the houses near us do like their fireworks...
ReplyDeleteChristmas decorations stay up until 12th night, and some of the lights until Candlemas in our house.
Going to my brother in law's house for an early new year conversation and snacks. Will be home and in the bed by 9 😃 I'm ready to get the new year started, too.
ReplyDeleteAlways nice to enjoy a walk.
ReplyDeleteI'm ready to get back to normal too. Trying to hold off till New Years Day to take down the decorations.
No plans for New Years Eve, just enjoying the evening at home as usual. :)
Hello lovely GM! I'm tired of the Christmas treats for sure. Since I have a cold, nothing sounds tasty. Maybe it's time to visit all my cookbooks. I'm glad you are getting out for lovely walks!
ReplyDeleteWe will be staying at home, too. A quiet evening is good, and we often stay up until midnight. We can sometimes see the fireworks from our upstairs window. I love the quote - I think it's by Edith Sitwell. Winter is indeed time for home.
ReplyDeleteI see that you are able to comment as yourself on my blog again. Did you do something different or did blogger just fix itself?
Happy New Year!
We had pouring rain all day today. All last week was warm in the 40's F but foggy all day long, every day. Saturday and Sunday were sunny but today was rain until dinner time and now snow. It''s supposed to snow all night but only 1-3 inches so not bad. But the temperature is supposed to be -7F by next Sun night! Yuck! I guess the new year is coming in with a bang. We haven't had any snow up till now so we can't really complain. I'm still wearing my flip-flops! :-)
ReplyDeleteI've been trying to avoid sugar as much as possible for the last couple of weeks and I have actually lost a few pounds, so no sweets here because I have no willpower and would eat them all.
We're supposed to go see the movie "Wicked" tomorrow night with Dennis's cousin and wife who have been our best friends for almost 50 years. But Barb hasn't felt well for about 5 days now and thinks it may be the Ozempic she takes for diabetes. She's going to the doctor tomorrow so I guess we'll see what she finds out. No matter what, we'll be home by 9:00 and Dennis will be in bed shortly after. I may stay up till midnight, I do quite often anyway.
I hope you have a great New Years Eve at home enjoying the peace and quiet.
Blessings and love,
Betsy
Happy New Year GM~
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Granny Marigold! I have no plans for tonight—at all. I might try to finish my book. I don’t know Diane Shiffer, I will have to check her out! Have a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteIt has been rainy and so dreary here this day....no peep of sun. And the wind is getting colder. I am longing for days of sunshine.
ReplyDeleteI love that close image...just simply love it.
