Poinsettias

My girls picked me up this morning to go browsing in pretty shops.  At first I thought I'd only be able to go to one but later I changed my mind and we went on to a second one. It was well worth getting tired.
Poinsettias come in new colours this year. There was even a blue one. I suppose if you were decorating in blue you'd choose that one.

Here's a picture from 17 years ago today.  It was early for us to have such a heavy layer of snow but here I am pulling 3 year old C on the old sled.

Supper today will be green bean soup using beans that I froze last summer. As the soup simmers the house smells like Summer Savory . Along with the soup we'll have cheese bread. What's cooking in your kitchen?

Thanks for visiting

  3. Sounds like a fun time with your girls, and when you said blue poinsettia I did not think I would like it, but it is really beautiful. Where does the time go, we often ask ourself when we see our granddaughter.

What do you put in your green bean soup?

  4. Not much has been cooking in our kitchen since Thanksgiving. Lots of leftovers and since I haven't been feeling well, just simple things. My sister had a December 28 wedding and she carried one dinner plate sized pure white poinsettia. It was gorgeous. I wore a green velvet gown and her maid of honor wore a cherry red velvet gown. One of my favorite weddings ever. Her 50th anniversary is this month. Mike died of cancer four years ago so Dennis and I are taking her out to dinner on their anniversary to celebrate. They had some hard times, but it was true love always.
    Blessings,

  5. A sweet memory indeed, of little C and the snow. I love all those poinsettias! I saw a bunch of beauties in the store today... if some are still around in a couple of weeks, I might buy one or two. But I'm not that ready yet.

  8. Blue poinsettas! No,no,no....and I am not having green bean soup... I've never heard of it. But, hey,, I am willing to try anything. My dinners lately have been leftovers from Thanksgiving.... STILL. Will I ever get rid of them?

  9. Here we are leaving the soups behind because summer is coming. We call those flowers Estrella Federal, I had some but they never prospered because of the heat that prevails at that time. I read that if the necessary care is given we will have a shrub that will reach 3.50 meters.

  10. What a lovely outing with your girls. I had no idea that it gave such a thing as blue poinsettias. Such an adorable picture of you pulling C in the sled. Your green bean soup sounds yummy. I've got bread baking right now but no idea what lunch will be. Here it's a blustery winter day so I'm more than glad to be inside.

  12. A wonderful Post! I love the three little girls VERY MUCH! I bake every third day an apple cake with our garden apples and it smells like late summer. We call these nice flowers Christmas-stars. I never saw blue ones.

  13. What a lovely blog and a beautiful photo of you three. I've never seen a blue poinsettia before. I can't have them myself because they give me a terrible headache, but I do enjoy looking at them. Today in my kitchen: croissants with smoked salmon and scrambled eggs.

  14. The flowers are beautiful. I made chicken noodle soup for supper with grilled cheese. Nothing like a bowl of soup to warm you up.

  16. Nice photo of you and the girls!
I saw different colored poinsettias too, not sure about that. I prefer the classic colors.
