A Rainy July First
Thank you for all the wonderful comments on my flowers. I do hope you know I took pictures of the best ones and ignored the drooping and less lovely plants.
We had a cold and rainy day yesterday. Our planned family BBQ was forced indoors which made it crowded and just not the same as I had hoped. I think it's the first year I can remember where the first of July was so wet and chilly. The rain of course tried to flatten the Annabelle Hydrangeas with their large blooms. Here is a "before the rain" picture...
And this is what they look like this morning.. They are tied up and can't fall completely but still they are quite battered.
The other Hydrangeas seem unaffected by the rain so I'm thankful for those.
I was out doing a little walk about. It's still not very pleasant out but hopefully this afternoon the sun will make an appearance.
I hope you're having a very lovely Thursday!!
Thanks for stopping by, Granny M

I love hydrangeas but have had no luck growing them. Yours are beautiful, even when rain soaked. I hope your weather is improving.
ReplyDeleteYour hydrangea's are beautiful, even wet !! It's a shame that it rained on your holiday party, having everyone inside makes things a little crowded. With that said, I know a good time was still enjoyed!!
ReplyDeleteSo gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWe've sure had a lot of rain here too! I'm sorry your poor hydrangeas took such a beating, they are so beautiful! Hoping the sunshine will come out here too! It's hard to have a family BBQ inside when it is rainy. I hope you still had a good Canada Day! Many blessings to you :)
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful! I have a similar hydrangea but as it was here when we came I'm not sure whether it is Annabelle or not. My gardener says its called a 'popcorn' hydrangea!
ReplyDeleteWow, those Annabelle hydrangeas are gorgeous! I planted one outside my office window last year. I look forward to the day it produces blooms like that.
ReplyDeletePoor Annabelle does not like to get her tresses wet.
ReplyDeleteSorry that your Canada Day was rained on. We are hoping for a dry July 4th, since the plan is to social distance outside.
Hope those flowers perk up again once the sun comes out.
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful blooms.
Oh this rain was really tooooo strong! What a pity, that you had to celebrate your meal indoor. I'm happy, that these wonderful flowers still are not completely on the floor, because their guardian-angel Granny Marigold planned it best to shelter them.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful garden you have!
Hope for better weather for the coming July and many greetings from Dori

Oh, it must have been a hard rain to batter those hydrangeas so bad. I am glad the other is still looking up. I do not know why I don't have some of them because I love them. There are three or four plants i have always liked but don't have.
ReplyDeleteAbout your photos in the previous post...even if you left out the less than perfect, you still have a LOT of beautiful flowers.
Your hydrangeas are very beautiful....both before and after the rain. I especially love the pink ones! Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteOh dear, sounds like your Summer and our Winter swapped places for a couple of days (we have had blue skies and sunshine the last few days). What a shame about your BBQ, and I hope those poor flowers soon recover and get their heads up again :) xx
ReplyDeleteEverything looks so beautiful. We had tremendous rain and wind, wind, wind yesterday. In fact it's supposed to be 39 tonight! Our furnace is on in the trailer. In July!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
A crowded indoor event doesn't seem like a good idea during Covid-19.
ReplyDeleteMy mom said it's just plain cold up in your neck of the woods. I hope you get the promised sunshine this weekend. Take care, sweet GM!
ReplyDeleteWe're having a streak of hot days. Looks like rain in the next few days, but the temps will still be high. Hope your hydrangeas perk up again! Everything looks beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYes, yesterday we also had rain and also a lot at night, but today on Friday it was nice again and I enjoyed the day in the city ... for a long time I was once again in the museum.
ReplyDeleteNow I am also happy about the landscape in the forest and field and garden.
Greetings to you. Your hydrangeas are beautiful.
Oh your Annabelles are so beautiful! Mine look very sad this year, I wonder if it's because our weather has been extremely hot and humid. Sorry to hear the weather was so uncooperative for your family BBQ. Chris
ReplyDeleteSuch a shame about your bbq and those beautiful hydrangeas. We are not doing much better with the weather here either.
ReplyDeleteHard to have such not summer weather! A hug!
ReplyDeleteYour hydrangeas, both dry and wet, are lovely! I bought two hydrangeas and planted them a few years ago -- 3 or 4? -- and they have never bloomed at all. Very frustrating, but we are not very good with plants that need much help :)
