Flowers and Fruit

As an early birthday present DH took me to buy plants!! I had fun choosing 3 Dahlias, a Helichrysum, and some little herbs.  I treated myself to a bouquet of lilies too but they haven't opened just yet.
Tomorrow I'll find better pots for the herbs which I will keep inside for now. There's 1 Rosemary and 2 mint plants (spearmint and peppermint). I wanted grapefruit and apple mint but there were none.

They were selling fruit at the plant shop as well and we got cherries and peaches. The peaches will need at least another 4 or 5 days before they're ripe enough to use.

Our weather has turned cool and we're so thankful. It seems every year around the middle of August summer begins to slide into Fall. Now if we could have a day of rain that would be great.

This week is going by so quickly. It seems once it is Wednesday the week is almost done. Monday and Tuesday go by at a normal speed but once Wednesday comes things speed up. Do you notice that?  Maybe it's just me.

Have a pleasant Thursday. Thanks for coming by,  GM

  1. I don't think it is just you :)
The week begins normally enough, but then the week seems to start again and I wonder what has happened to the days in between!
Maybe it is a signal that we should be stepping back a little, to stop rushing around, and making time to just sit and enjoy our environment for a while.
Have a happy week :) xx

  3. That's a good way to express the season - summer begins to slide into fall. It does seem to be happening quickly. I bought peaches that are sitting on newspaper in the laundry room ripening. They seemed particularly hard this year. Enjoy these August days.

  4. August just seemed to fly by with our time in London. We've looked forward to seeing Alex and his fiance for so long and it was over so quickly.
I'm glad you found so many plants that you wanted. I'm keeping my eyes out for an African Violet. I lost mine a few years ago and I'm avidly reading your tips. :-)
    Blessings,

  5. Oh, I also meant to add that it's still really hot here. 90's plus humidity equals miserable outside. I'm so thankful and grateful for air conditioning. Bless whoever invented it.

  8. I'd be interested in what do you do with Hellchrysium? This time of year is good as the nurseries are trying to get loose of their sometimes overpriced annuals. I purchased a bogo Chocolate Mint, and a peppermint, I've potted them to keep them from running amuck.

  10. What fun and delicious early birthday gifts you chose. We, too, have been enjoying the cherries and peaches. I will hate to see their season end.
I agree about the weeks flying by once Weds. arrives.

  12. Nice to have the plants and flowers already there to make your birthday more festive. Great idea!

Our weather would be perfect, if not for the smoke keeping us from enjoying the outdoors as much as we would normally...

  13. We have so much fresh fruit these days I can't even keep track of it all, let alone eat it! Peaches, apricots, plums, blueberries, and cherries at last count.

  20. Those cherries look so tempting. I could eat them all! When I worked at the apple orchard, they also had a few cherry trees. So fun to pick and to eat! I miss those days.
