Tuesday is for Teacups

I was not planning on buying any more teacups unless I found one that I really liked a lot but then I saw these lovelies that someone had advertised for $10 for all 5.  I couldn't resist since I like all 5. The black one is Japanese, the one behind it to the left is Royal Albert.

I wonder if I jinxed our weather by hanging this tea towel with its LET IT SNOW message because we had a snow squall yesterday and more snow is forecast for later this week.  Today, however, is a fairly pleasant day with the temperature above zero.

So far this week I've been keeping busy tidying the house and slowly putting away some Christmas things but not the tree. I love the lights that greet me when I come down early in the morning. I'm going to miss that although I got a good idea from Holly over at The Merry Needle. She has created a "substitute Christmas tree" using a bird cage, a glittery nest and fairy lights.  Like me she wanted some thing to light up the darkness that greets us in the morning and descends upon us in the late afternoon already.

Thanks for visiting today, GM

  1. I think you may soon need a dedicated room for your big collection of tea cups!

  2. All your new tea cups are lovely.
I like the lights of Christmas too and I just might put some lights out again and keep them shining all winter.

  3. Like a well of friendship-feelings. I had to remove our Christmastree, because he was very dry. But I missed his greetings! And the lights in the morning!! So I was creative and put one of the big branches from outside and put it with lights and stars again into our sittingroom! :)

    Christmas-time still is not over.

We have a lot of rain. Congratulations for your snow, but too much is too much.

    I must smile about the teacups :) :) :) I know this ... :) :) :)

They are too lovely to let them go away!

  4. We still have our outside lights but we finished putting everything else away today. I will miss the tree lights too, but it's time to shut out the darkness and get cozy when we are not getting busy. Hopefully our snow will just be above freezing flurries.

  5. Hi GM! Thank you for the shout-out! I do love the lights and I don't blame you one bit for keeping the tree up. I hope you are done with snow awhile but when I watch the weather channel it looks like most of the continent got it from winter storm Frida and they say there are more coming. I LOVE the new teacups. The Japanese one is so striking, too. Stay warm!

  6. We had a couple of really cold nights, but we seldom get snow. Finished putting all the Christmas away yesterday, now the living room looks bare. I love Christmas lights and always leave one string up in the kitchen.

  7. Pretty tea cups and pretty dish towels.
I've started drinking tea in the evening to replace my nightly ice cream. I have a sweet little pot that holds a little over three cups, but I need to make a tea cozy to keep the heat in.
Stay in, if you can and stay off the icy roads. Winter is a good time for sewing, reading and fiddling inside the house.

  8. I think your teacups are beautiful and for such a bargain price. They are all lovely. I have all of our Christmas decor put away. I'm ready to have the house back to somewhat normal by the first of the year since I usually decorate Thanksgiving weekend or shortly after. I do however, leave my snow people out. They are wintery and not just Christmas so they usually stay out until around Valentines day.
We had mid 40'sF this afternoon and it was wonderful. Now the wind is gusting from the Northwest and it's only supposed to be 7F tomorrow with lows well below zero. I guess winter has truly arrived.
I think that birdcage idea is lovely. I will have to watch FB marketplace and see if I can find something.
    Blessings and love,
    Betsy

  9. I would love the idea of a bird cage & fairy lights. Do take photos if you create one.
The black tea set is truly stunning!!
I'm back from my blogging break and posting again. Happy 2022!

  10. Loving those teacups and I would not have been able to pass up that deal either! I started putting away my Kitchen Christmas decor yesterday. My kitchen looks so bare right now. Still have to get the tree put back in the box but at least everything is clean in my kitchen. I just hate taking down my Christmas, especially in my Living Room. I love the lights so much. Just brings about a sense of peace. But, it's a brand new year with a brand new beginning. Praying we all have a wonderful New Year. Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  11. Your teacups are beautiful, and would be hard to resist. Most of Christmas is tucked away here, but I've left lights on the mantels, and we leave little lights around our kitchen/eating area windows year round. They are such a welcome soft light on these dark days. Snow is predicted here again, too. Have a good day.

  13. That is a really good idea, about the twinkle lights for all of winter. I agree about the lights, and how cheering they are in the house.
The Royal Albert tea cup is gorgeous, and I also love the little pink flowers one. Who could resist???

  14. I still have my two little trees up, though they will probably come down this week... But the fairy lights all over the house I'm keeping much longer, maybe through January. Chase away the dark!!
