Geraniums

My DH came back from his visit with family and life is back to normal around here. He enjoyed his time away and I thoroughly enjoyed my time alone. Of course I'm not alone since middle son and family are in their part of the house and he pops in often as do the grands.

We did the grocery shopping this morning and outside the store were marked down plants. I couldn't resist buying 2 pink geraniums which now join the white one and red one on the porch next to the swing so I can admire them when I sit with my cup of coffee. It's so odd. I never used to be much of a coffee drinker. One cup for breakfast, that was it. Otherwise it was Earl Grey.  Now I make a pot of tea if one of my daughters is coming to visit otherwise I prefer coffee ( but always decaf).

One of the days when I was alone youngest son brought me a wonderful dessert that my DIL had made. It was meant to be a Pavlova but due to the humidity the day she made it it wouldn't rise. It was still scrumptious.

So far it has been a lovely day. Partly cloudy but 20* C (about 68*F) so very comfortable.

Whatever your weekend holds I hope it's a good one.

Thanks for coming by,  GM

  4. I used to stay away from too much pink in my flower gardens, but now encourage it. Geraniums are favorites of mine. Your DIL's dessert does look scrumptious; makes me want something strawberry.

  8. Your dessert looks mouth wateringly delicious. The plate it is on is very lovely too! Do you have a set of those? Glad that your DH returned home safe and sound. I don't seem to have luck growing geraniums. A gardening friend gave me a rather large salmon colored one recently and I'm sure it will suffer the fate of all those that have succumbed before.

  12. I'm very glad to hear that your husband is home, safe and sound. I understand enjoying your time alone too though. I absolutely my Hubby, but I like my alone time too sometimes. I didn't know your son and family lived in the same house! I think that is wonderful. I would love to inhabit Mandy's lower level, (basement). It has it's own patio door entrance. A luxurty bathroom that my SIL put in. A huge bedroom and closet and a main room that our big living room would fit in about four times. We could easily have a kitchenette, table and living room there. It may happen someday, who knows?
Your flowers are beautiful. I just finished putting my teeny-tiny garden in today. We went to Walmart after church and I bought pepper and cucumber plants. Just one each. I have four zuchinni, three rows of green beans and a cherry tomato plant too. I hope it's not too late to plant but I haven't invested much in the plants and there's always next year. We had to remove about seven inches of river rock from the entire area and then put a fence up yesterday. Something kept eating the tops off of the green beans as they sprouted.
Yummy looking dessert too and the plate is beautiful.
Take care and enjoy those flowers my friend.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  15. I love that color of geranium! I just realized that it's been a long time since I've had the usual sort of geraniums. The last few years I only have these little nutmeg scented pelargoniums with tiny tiny white flowers. I started with one and got another started from it. The two were the same size, and just yesterday I put one of them out by the street with a "free" sign on it -- also a few succulents and a catnip plant. Last night they got rained on, and I just went out to check: only the catnip has not been taken and I don't think it will be -- because it seems a cat has been chewing or rubbing on it, because it's certainly the worse for wear!

  16. Pavlova is the most delicious dessert! Looks wonderful. I've been wanting a few geraniums for my back deck, and maybe now I'm feeling motivated to go buy them :)

  17. How nice that both you and hubby enjoyed your separate times. YOur flowers are lovely and desert looks inviting. I drink 2 or 3 cups of coffee a day, but like tea when I'm cold or not feeling well. Like you coffee is decaf, must be our age, lol.

  18. Your geraniums look so pretty. I can see why you would enjoy them with your cup of coffee. They don't seem to do as well here as when I grew them in Michigan. I did plant some this year, but already they seem to be plagued by yellow and brown spotted leaves.
The pavlova looks especially lovely on that plate. I'll bet it was delicious.

  19. Your geraniums look very pretty together. I like the pink ones best. I never drink coffee, and always decaf tea, which takes some of the enjoyment out of it, but helps me to sleep better. The pavlova looks scrumptious!
