Today is the day I set aside to deal with stacks of 'stuff ' that was cluttering up various spots in the house. Things I didn't quite know where to store. I know some have wondered where I keep things so I thought I'd go around the house and take a few pictures. The first picture is a corner of the livingroom where I have some wicker suitcases tucked behind a table. I keep gift bags, tissue paper, photo frames both ones with pictures that I don't have spots to display them and also empty frames. One suitcase holds some cards from past years, cards I want to keep (also precious drawings made by grandchildren).
I have a small collection of hats that hang in the front hall closet. The boxes below store a variety of things.
I haven't found a use yet for this cute train case that eldest daughter painted and gave to me.
Kate (#1 granddaughter) gave me this lovely hardboard suitcase that is full of scrapbooking odds & ends.
I hope I haven't bored you too much but I always wonder where others keep all the things that we all need to keep around. Do share your methods either in the comments or even do a post about it.
Thanks for visiting today, GM
That was a good post.
ReplyDeleteI have a collection of metal picnic baskets with hinged lids, stacked in my bedroom. I store old cards and letters in them. One holds some of my PT equipment. Some are still empty.
I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that stores odds and ends in interesting containers! I love the train case that your granddaughter painted... very clever!
ReplyDeleteFor me?....Think over-stuffed closets!! One is no longer a walk-in as the builder intended. lol
ReplyDeleteI do like the wicker cases. Like it was meant to be.
You have found some clever storage ideas.
ReplyDeleteI have floor to ceiling round shaker boxes and keep all the Christmas decorations in them. I don't really have a lot of stuff stored away. Everything I like is out somewhere in the house.
My house is full of valuable penny-ante stuff from the cellar upstairs to the storage - :))) From old times, from elder times, from new times. The most beloved things I collect in three very beautiful wooden painted cupboards of ancient Bavarian farmers. I also have baskets, boxes, and all you need, when you have a big family and a big memory - - - and a big creativity and love.
ReplyDeleteSo, you " always wonder where others keep all the things that we all need to keep around." That is the question I am forever trying to find the answer to!
ReplyDeleteI really like your wicker suitcases! I know what it is like to have “stuff” that you don’t want to toss yet there isn’t a logical place to put it. I think you have solved the problem beautifully!
ReplyDeleteBored? I think not! I love beautiful functional storage and you certainly have done a wonderful job at finding and using just that!
ReplyDeleteI have several trunks...well three to be exact. I also love hat boxes and any kind of pretty box!
ReplyDeleteYou have been very creative with your storage. Most of my creative storage is my open shelves for my yarn. After all of the cleaning we've done at Mom's house, I'm convinced that I need to get rid of virtually everything!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
Your ideas for storage are wonderful and add the perfect touch to what might otherwise be just an empty corner or space. I love the hat boxes too.
ReplyDeleteA lot of my 'excess stuff' is shoved into a spare wardrobe! I cringe every time I open the door as I really should clean out more of it :)
ReplyDeleteYour storage spots are pretty enough to be called decoration. I do have a stack of matching hat boxes filled with old cards and letters and little collectibles...stacked in a corner of the sewing room.
ReplyDeleteOh fun! I have various boxes for things!
ReplyDeleteI am looking for ideas...I have so much stuff! I really enjoyed reading this...I need to do better about storage. I have been working for years trying to get rid of things. Till our girls don't have it to deal with. Funny thing though, is part of the stuff I have had to deal with is stuff they have left here. LOL
ReplyDeleteYou have some great storage solutions. I keep things in closets, in boxes on shelves. We have a large walk-in closet over the stairs that is a repository for a lot of things!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post
ReplyDeleteWe have very little closet space in our home, so I'm awful at finding storage spots. My stuff is all over the house.
