Fall

The weather these days is so lovely. When we go walking the dry leaves scrunch under my feet. I know we desperately need rain but I am enjoying the sunshine.  It's quite breezy out today and if I had laundry to hang out it would be dry in no time at all.

We have a number of birthdays in October and I've been keeping my eyes open for gifts. I was at the thrift store this morning and found a nice shirt for one of my sons. $4 and it looks and feels like new. I also bought a king-sized bedsheet in great condition for $3 and I'm sure you know what those go for in any store. It's a nice pale cream, very neutral.

I gathered Marigold seeds, enough for years! Maybe I can find someone next spring that wants some. I'm still waiting for the zinnias to form seeds. Each flower just lasts and lasts.

Things are still very quiet around here so I don't have a lot to blog about.

Happy first day of Fall for tomorrow!!!    GM

  1. It's still hot here, anywhere from 80-92 degrees, depending on which day it is. I am ready for Fall. I am sure it will be here soon.

  3. These quiet days, when nature slowly is coming to her rest, are like golden impressions.

It's not easy to find a good present for adult sons. So you can be happy, that you found the shirts.

  4. I got out and did a little yard work today, got some of the lavenders clipped and the roses deadheaded. It was really warm this afternoon and I fell asleep on the patio in the shade of the umbrella. We sorted through our emergency tub and declared it good for another year.
I'm feeling lazy now. I'll have to gear up to cook some dinner soon..

  7. We have quiet days here too, everybody is inside and less noise outside. Everybody is cleaning the gardens and planing for the winter to come

  8. Have a Happy Autumn, dear GM. Enjoy those balmy days - they never seem to last long enough before Winter arrives again :)

  9. Like you, I am also waiting for my zinnias flowers to dry up on the plant so that I can collect seeds. I had bought a mixed package of new seeds this spring and there are some lovely colors I haven't had before but they keep blooming with no signs of maturing. We will undoubtedly get frost tonight so whether I want to or not, I will have to go outside today and take clippings from the coleus and take in my big geraniums as well as pick off the green tomatoes to bring inside, etc. That part of autumn is not my favorite!

  10. Sounds like you found some great bargains at the thrift shop.
We are in for a hot day tomorrow, but Friday is supposed to be much cooler. I can't wait. Fall weather is so refreshing after a hot summer. Wishing you a Happy Fall season.

  11. It was 100F yesterday with a "feel like" temp of 106F. Today the high was 65F! I love todays high, but 40F difference? That's crazy. It seems like everything is crazy in the world right now. But I did get a blog post written. :-)
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  12. I had not thought of marigold seeds in years...I used to have them EVERY year...I cannot remember the last time I had any...I must remedy that next year. My mom always saved seeds, too.

  14. Hi Granny! I don’t have much to blog about either, just finished a book and starting a new cross stitch pattern. Today is the first day of fall but you wouldn’t know it here in Texas — and I love your photo about summer being overrated — I couldn’t agree more!
