This and That

A day or so ago we noticed that a movie was being filmed on a property by the lake. At the time we were not sure if they were setting up or taking down. Later we found out it was being taken down. Filming a Christmas movie on one of the hottest days of the year. At least they were quick about it. The next day they were gone.

Some pages from September from the Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady.

Here's what happens when your husband says he's going to prune a lovely big Hydrangea and you're busy and don't supervise. To say I was shocked would be an understatement.

Both my daughters came for lunch today. That was special.

Slightly cooler weather is in our forecast.  I'm really looking forward to that.

Thanks for coming by, G.M.

  5. It is so hot and humid here. I just came in from taking Zoey outside and saw your winter photos! Shocking and funny too.
Your poor hydrangea looks naked! :-) I'm sure it will recover though. I'm glad you got to see your daughters. That is a special time for sure. We just got home from a trip to Mom's new apartment. Only the 3rd trip today so not too bad. There are a few kinks with the people we hired to give her her insulin injection. She has arthritis in her hands and can't push the plunger on the syringe. Today was the 5th day, and the 5th caregiver. They haven't gotten it right yet. Three had no idea how to give a injection at all. Dennis has given it once and I have had to do it twice. I sure hope they don't charge for this. Otherwise, Mom absolutely loves the new place.
    Happy Saturday!
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  9. Oh my goodness, I hope that poor hydrangea recovers. I once left my husband tidying up a long hedge with an electric trimmer and it looked as if he had taken a chainsaw to it. It took a good year to get the side and top level once more. Now his gardening is confined to taking clippings to the local recycling site.

  10. My oh my! That's quite the pruning job - I do hope your hydrangea will survive and grow back in time! But yes, unsupervised garden "help" can sometimes result in some catastrophes...my DH made "hosta salad" in my flower garden after tilling the garden without me knowing his plans.

  11. I'm so sorry that your husband got carried away while pruning . . . I have to confess, I've done the same thing.
I love the art work in your Country Diary, so pretty :)

  14. I hope the hydrangea recovers...I don't know much about them. I know sometimes if something thinks its dying it will put out a lot if growth and flowers.

    Love the squirrel and pumpkin.

  15. Pretty sure your hydrangea will recover, I sure hope so. One year my husband offered to "weed out" my perennial garden. When I came to "supervise" he had pulled out all my young hollyhocks! RRRRR.
