A Short Post

Not much to blog about here. The weather continues to be cold and again today we have snow falling. I'm not about to drive anywhere so I'm taking my time and tidying the house.  I might even get to taking down the sunroom Christmas tree.

The local police have once again posted some amusing words on FB  that nevertheless have a serious warning behind the humour.   If people would a) put on snow tires, and b) slow down!! we'd all feel safer on the roads.

Thanks for coming by today,  GM

  1. Love that police humor! I ventured out to the post office today. The plows had been by, so it wasn't bad. Now the sun is shining, which is very cheering! I prefer putzing around the house to going anywhere, so it's all good! Stay safe!

  2. Love the sense of humor of your local police. It does get the point across! It's going to be snowing here tomorrow and we have to drive four hours south to get to doctor appointments. Will be so happy Thursday night when our travel is done. Stay warm and safe, Granny!

  3. I've found people either don't slow down and drive crazy or go way too slow!!!

  5. I agree... people need to slow down when we have inclement weather. Every accident there was during the last storm we had was due to excessive speed for the road conditions. You would think that common sense would prevail!

  6. Very good advice. I saw so many people driving way too fast for the snow and ice on our roads today. Consequently, I also saw several accidents. The very reason I prefer to stay home if possible when the roads are bad. I don't trust the way many people drive. I have wonderful snow tires and don't have a lot of issues, but that doesn't keep people from sliding into me!
Thanks for visiting my blog today. I love it when people come to visit!
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  7. I'm so glad you can stay home - I hope everyone out there is thinking the way the wise and witty policeman is advising. His or her word pictures of the imaginary contents of the vehicle are bound to come to mind more than a generic warning would.

My son lived in Canada for a year, and we couldn't believe it when he said that on the Trans-Canada Highway during the snowy season, there were periods when 1,000 cars went off the road every day and kept the tow truck companies very busy.

  11. Your local police dept. has a great sense of humor. I imagine that is also a good way to get the point across. I hope it is successful, although I think I prefer your method of dealing with the bad weather.
