Primula Obconica

I bought three small pots of Primula , a different kind than I usually buy at this time of year. These are not winter hardy here so I'll enjoy them as long as they last.  I put them out on the porch for night because they like the coolness. As you can see I chose a white, a dark pink, and a blue.

Mine are not as full of flowers as the ones below ( image off the internet)

It's a sunny day and when my laundry was done I went out to look for weeds. I want to get them before they bloom and set seed. I'm hoping for a few more days like this. Although it's cold and the ground in the shade is still frozen it's nice to be puttering and slowly getting everything ready for Spring.

Thanks for visiting,

Granny Marigold

  1. Beautiful flowers. I'm looking forward to getting outside in the woods around our house. Won't be long now.

  3. Such pretty flowers. I'm woefully ignorant of what different plants are named but that doesn't stop me from thinking about how beautiful they are. Chloe and I went for a walk today and made it back inside just before the rain came down in buckets.

  4. Pretty pots of primulas.
I was kept busy with other things today and didn't get outside, but we both worked out in the yard yestersay, and Tom took a van load of prunings to the yard waste dump today where it will go to a composter.
Tomorrow we go to Whidbey Island to grub out the cabin garden and hopefully get weeds under control there.

  5. Love the box you have displayed the primulas in - did you make it yourself?

    1. No, it was yet another thrifty find. It is a set of two but the smaller box is too small to be of much use.

  6. Oooh - the colors are very cheering!

Weeds.... another day has gone by in which I saw the horrible kind of weeds growing between my pea rows and did not pull them out -- I was dressed to go out and not for gardening. Maybe tomorrow...? I better hurry or they will get to the point when they shoot their seeds everywhere the moment you touch them. :-(

  7. I love the flowers! I am afraid I am too late! Weeds are already making seeds in my beds. Each day I try to clean up a section, but today was a rainy day so I missed my weeding. I am sure the weeds were happy!

  12. Beautiful flowers! It's getting to that time of year here. Mr D cleaned the porch from all the winter leaves and did some pruning, it's time for some porch-sitting!

    1. Hi Michelle, I can't seem to be able to post a comment on your blog, in fact, I can see only 1 of the pictures you posted. The rest are blank squares.
