Puttering in the Back Yard

Our old wooden arbour was leaning perilously and DH discovered it was rotting so he made a new one using plastic or vinyl (?) pieces of lattice that we found marked down drastically at the lumber yard.  He assures me that this arbour will outlast both of us!

It's a very simple one but I hope to cover it with Sweet Peas in summer.

As I always do in Spring I got out my tea cups and lined them up here...

....more over here....

...a few more...

Remember  when I bought this cute tea pot at the thrift store months ago?  Well, here's Miss Kitty all ready to pour into the pretty blue tea cup.

My day began very early ( 6 A.M.) because I wanted to get to the grocery store for the early shopping hours for seniors which are from 7 till 8.  Yes, it was crazy, busy and hard to keep  a proper distance between  us and other shoppers but we made it. Home shortly after 8 feeling somewhat frazzled but now we're set for at least 2 weeks if not longer.

I hope you're all keeping safe and well, maybe even enjoying some sunshine!

Thanks for visiting,

Granny Marigold.

  2. I love your tea cups! How cute that Miss Kitty is Mother!
We have plenty of groceries, too. Beans for dinner.
I love your trellis. I can just about see the sweet peas already!

  3. That's a great new arbour, and will look wonderful covered in flowering plants. Love the teacups too! Was that at Superstore, that you went to for the early opening? I haven't been shopping in a week, and am trying to hold off until Monday. Thankfully there are greens in the garden, but the rest of the produce in the fridge is going fast. It's a challenge though to try make it through to next week, and I'm up for it!

  4. Nice job on the arbor. We've used the vinyl before too. We painted ours.
We went food shopping yesterday at 9:00 in the morning and had the store pretty much to ourselves.

  5. Your new trellis will certainly last longer! Maybe you might start a Clematis growing up it?

  6. We've been doing a little puttering too. It's nice to get outside. I LOVE your teacups and teapots in the garden, they look so nice standing all in a row. DH did a great job on the arbor, I think it will last a long time too. Sweet Peas will look so pretty climbing on it, hope you share pictures when that happens!!

  7. Your grocery shopping hour for seniors is much more palatable than ours... 6am to 7am. I told my husband I'd have to be pretty desperate to get up that early to go shopping! Love all your teacups outdoors... and the arbor your hubby is great!

  8. I love your new arbour and all your tea cups look so darling lined up like that around your yard. It's so nice to see grass and flowers coming up. Lucky you. We have a bit of time before that happens here....but at least it's starting to thaw. Come on Spring....lighten our moods! Love the longer daylight hours too.

  10. Sweet peas will look lovely growing there. Enjoy your garden as spring arrives (I am a little envious as we head now into autumn).
Your teacups are so quirky - I love them because they make me smile and feel happy :) xx

  11. Your new arbor is great and will look beautiful with the sweet peas. I love your teacups all lined up. What a great idea! I enjoyed seeing green in your garden too. We had unexpected snow this morning so no green here yet.
We're set with groceries for at least a month. It will be frozen and canned veggies but that's fine. A friend dropped off a bag of halo oranges and a Costco rotisserie chicken this afternoon after she went shopping so those will be a nice addition to our menu.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  12. There are so many pretty things in your yard, so much to look forward to as spring turns into summer. Glad you have had some sunny days. We got 2 inches of rain Tuesday night and all day yesterday was damp and overcast. Today we are supposed to have sunshine and warmer temps. Can't wait! That is such a nice arbor! What a nice husband you have! I love the kitty cat teapot. That is so cute!

  17. I love that arbor...I hope it does last you. And I so love that you use your teacups...I would be afraid they would get broken. I would probably be the one to be clumsy and knock one down.

  18. Just catching up whilst I have internet connection. Love the arbor but the teacups are a real delight, they look amazing. Stay safe.

  19. Your new lattice arbor is just lovely and what a blessing you were able to get it at a reduced price! I love how you put out your tea cups every spring and Miss Kitty looks adorable there! But when I saw your Brown Betty it made my heart skip a beat. It looks just like the one my mother-in-law had for as long as I can remember. Our daughter gave me a Brown Betty for my birthday last year but it is plain brown. Yours looks lovely there. We stocked up on flours and some other needs that were on my list two weeks ago and we should be fine for the foreseeable future because both freezers are well stocked and I have all of the canned veggies and jams that I do every summer. I'm glad you and your husband were able to get out for those early shopping hours and get in what you will need. We had a beautiful day of warmth and sunshine yesterday! I trust you will have many of those days because it does lift ones spirit. xx

  20. It sounds like they need more than just one hour for "elder shopping' at the stores.
That arbor looks perfect! Your yard is tidy and welcoming. Mine is a weed fest!
