This first photo is one taken on a walk about a week ago. Once I decided to post pics of the last flowers blooming in my garden I wanted to remove this picture but Blogger doesn't seem to want me to.
I cut back this Spiderwort and it has decided to give me a few last flowers. I had a purple one near this one but I may have cut that one back too drastically because now I don't see it at all.
Hummingbirds keep checking out the Fuchsias to see if there are any new flowers but they are disappointed.
The Rudbeckias look a little tattered but still hang on to their bright blooms.
And this Hydrangea is the last one to have any colour. The others have faded to a sort of beige.
What are your favourite perennials? The ones that bloom for a long time and are quite undemanding?
I hope you had a pleasant weekend. Mine was a busy one with youngest son having his birthday on Saturday and eldest daughter's today, Sunday. Son requested cheesecake as his birthday "cake" and my daughter wanted Black Forest Cake. On Friday I baked and with all the celebrating I forgot to take any pictures. One more busy weekend coming up and then a month to take it easy before Christmas preparations begin.
Thanks for coming by,
GRANNY MARIGOLD
You still have such beautiful flowers blooming in your yard. And hummingbirds! We're preparing for winter. Dennis worked on putting insulation behind the RV skirting most of the weekend and it was cold and damp as it rained all night last night. It had to be done though because it's supposed to be in the teens and snow by the end of the week! Yuck!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the beautiful photos.
Blessings,
Betsy
I love all these flowers very much. Hope the Colibris will find enough to eat. Is it possible to feed them? The Hortensia are the same here in Bavaria. They make interesting colours, here most of them are red and/or beige. I took some of dark red for our church for Sunday (yesterday).
ReplyDeleteI see you have a lot to do! The cakes will be fine, both ideas are a good ideas. What did you bake?
I also want to prepare for Christmas next month. My Mother in law (89) wants me to draw a children-book with a poem and small angles. A nice wish! I hope I will be successful - - -
Hi G.M. - My Mum had Hydrangers - I think they were Purple Flowers similar in color to 'The Start of Bethlehem'. Pleased you all enjoyed your Children's Birthdays - yes, it will soon be Christmas. ( We usually swelter here on Christmas Day). Best Wishes. KEV.
ReplyDeleteI'm impressed with the amount of color you have in your garden at this time of year as mine are all frozen already. We had a few snow flurries yesterday though it all melted as it hit the ground but still, we know what's around the corner. I'm not looking forward to it, that's for sure. Your previous post inspired me to go through my pantry which isn't near as organized or neat as yours. To my surprise, I found that I have a total of 17 bags of different varieties of chocolate chips...I guess I won't need to buy any for my Christmas baking, lol. Note to self, put them all in one place next time!

Hello GM! It's fun to think about Christmas! Your flowers still look VERY good! Yay!
ReplyDeleteYou have been really busy. Your flowers are still pretty, even prettier that my flowers that bloom in spring. I don't understand how to delete pictures, except to back space over them and sometimes that messes up something else. It's the print size that drives me crazy.
ReplyDeleteYes to the perennials that you have described. My hydrangeas didn't bloom much this year which was disappointing. The black-eyed Susans and coneflowers performed well. Interesting to know that you are still seeing hummingbirds. They seem to have all flown the coop around here. Do they stay through the winter for you?
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are still quite lovely. Mine are all gone and as soon as we get a dry day I will go out and cut everything back.
ReplyDeleteYou still have a lot of colour in the garden. Rudbeckias are such good plants.
ReplyDeleteYour flowers still look pretty.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to you son and daughter. 🎈
Beautiful photos and it sounds like you photo-less weekend was wonderful. Nothing like family.
ReplyDeleteWe only have one yellow rose still in bloom.
ReplyDeleteHummers are still coming to our hardy fuchsias. Some roses are still blooming. Most other things are looking ratty and it will soon be time to cut most things back. Then we'll plant the new tulip bulbs.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteOh goodness! Your description of the weeks ahead sound like we are flying to the new year :) I am ready for 2020 to be behind us, and I do wonder what in the world the holiday season will be like.
ReplyDeleteAll my plants have to thrive with neglect, because that's about all they get!!! Lantana is my perennial long-bloomer. I have one MASSIVE, tall Lantana, and then about four short yellow ones. One white hydrangea finally bloomed this year, hooray! I have a geranium in a pot that is still trying.
Oh, I love that hydrangea...I like them even after they turn brown. I love hibiscus...did not remember loving them as much as a kid, except for this red one my mom had. And it grew real tall...as in way over my head and I am 5ft tall. I always loved to watch the hummingbirds come check it out. I also enjoy daylilies. I did not like them much when I was younger, but now love they way they just keep blooming.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers GM. Happy birthday to your kiddos. Oh, I love Christmas...my most favorite time. Speaking of picture on blog....I just noticed that some of my pictures won't even show up on the blog from post back!!! GRR! Hope you have a great rest of the week. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you couldn't get that first photo off, because I like that rustic fence. Gives me inspiration for next year. Phil
