Thrift Store Browsing

This lovely big Christmas tree is the first thing I saw as I walked into the thrift store. I know many of you are going to groan about it being way too early for anything to do with Christmas but not me. I love the whole season and although I think they could wait until November I'm okay with this too.

I had a wonderful time walking through the displays and admiring everything.

I couldn't resist this little teapot.  I took the picture (below) to show just how small it is compared to a regular sized teapot.

Kim asked if our Hummingbirds stayed all winter. We have both the Rufous and Anna's in this area. As far as I know only the Anna's stays around. In spite of the feeders we had out last winter we had an extremely cold week and I think our hummers died because we didn't see them again.

Ellabie, you found you had 17 bags of chocolate chips when you went through your pantry. I found I had 2 large unopened bags of dates. Good thing we check our supplies from time to time.

 Thanks for visiting, GM

  1. I'm not a fan of early decorations for Christmas, but I have to admit, the tree sure is beautiful! And I just love your new adorable little teapot! We've had the cold weather here, and my hummers have been gone since August, we don't have any Anna's here, I don't think. It always feels good to clean out closets, I cleaned out my craft closet today. :)

  5. That is such a HUGE thrift store! Wow - our local one is really small. I'm with you ... I will take Christmas decor whenever I can get it, because it makes me feel all happy and childlike inside :) Cute tea pot!

  6. That is a beautiful tree. We won't have one here in the RV this year but I'm looking for a safe spot to put my nativity out. That is our focal point of the celebration anyway. I will miss all of the beautiful ornaments we typically put out each year.
That teapot is darling and a great find!
    Blessings,

  7. Like you I think they could wait to put up the Christmas decor but I too love the season and we now have several inches of snow cover so it feels like Christmas is coming. The anticipation of the season is a wonderful feeling. Especially with all the Covid restrictions, I for one will be starting my shopping far earlier than I normally would just to avoid the congestion of people later on as I don't want to find myself having to stand in line outside a store waiting for my turn to go in. I do love your miniature tea pot and I can see why it came home with you.

  10. WOW is your thrift store big! I like that Christmas tree too! I have NO problem for early Christmas; I wonder if some stores are jump-starting this because of questions of virus increasing and not as much foot traffic closer to Christmas... (a sad thought but...) that little tea pot is so daring!!!

  11. Somehowfor me Christmas is during the whole year - - My sheep are my small Bethlehem, poor and simple stables under a somehow open sky. Christmas always should be present in our hearts, and Christ must be born in our hearts, a mystical teacher says.
You made a fine ecoration with your cups - flair of autumn.

Is it you on the photo? VERY NICE - but I cannot enlarge the photo.

Greetings and shelter to the Hummingbirds in your region!

  12. Love the new little teapot! And that big Christmas Tree IS pretty, even if a bit early. I usually have my Christmas cards ordered by now and am making a list for christmas gifts...but this year....nothing. I can't seem to get with it. Time will tell, if I do.

  13. Hi G.M.- Yes, Christmas is a special time- it usually begins for me by putting up the small 'Nativity Scene' in the Lounge Room. Regards. KEV.

  14. How cute the little teapot is! Usually I do not like Christmas displays so early. But I must admit that when I visited my friend in the US in 2006 just at this time, it was really fun to experience American Christmas! If they had not been early I would not seen it!
I can't believe it is 14 years ago!In fact, today was the day I went back home :)

  16. No groaning from me over the Christmas tree. In fact, I felt a sense of excitement and wished I could get a closer look at all the details :). So I guess you know I share your feelings on Christmas decorations. So happy that you found that sweet little tea pot. It was meant for you. Thank you for answering my question on the hummingbirds. How wonderful to have both kinds to enjoy!

  17. Such a cute teapot! I definitely would have bought it! I noticed last week that the stores in my area are putting up their Christmas decor and leaving a tiny section for Halloween. Too early for me.. but the tree is very pretty!

  19. I love that adorable little teapot!! Love the store photo! They closed our thrift store back in March and it hasn't been opened back up since then. I'm so sad not to be able to browse around in there. They always had such interesting finds. They think maybe next year they will get back to business. I hope everything can get back to normal soon... whatever normal is! Be blessed, GM!
