I saw this clump of mushrooms by the lake. It seems like they grew overnight because I sure didn't see them there yesterday.
Then there was this piece of tree trunk. It looks small but it was almost as tall as I am and covered with what I thought at first was paint. When I scratched the white part it came off in wet bits that makes me think that also was some sort of fungus.
One last tidbit. Not about fungus. While puttering outside I managed to break off this pretty Pansy. I brought it in and put it a saucer with a bit of water.
Thank you for all the lovely comments on my last post. And thank you for visiting today.

You are way ahead of me in getting your gardens ready for planting next spring. I have been waiting for the hummingbirds and butterflies to move on before removing old annuals. The weather has turned quite dry here, as it often does in the fall, so I am not seeing mushrooms like I did earlier. Beatrix Potter often sketched them in her books which are delightful, I think.
ReplyDeleteYour first photo of mushrooms shows they are growing in a heart shape. Homemade mushroom soup, I should try that.
ReplyDeleteMe and my family also like mushrooms. My husband knows a lot od tasty mushrooms growing in our forest in autumn. Mushroom-soup is a famous earting of the Bavarian people. They make it like your soup, and some dumpling from white bread, milk and eggs ("Semmelknödel").
ReplyDeleteThe plate with the viotell flower is so nice! Good idea!
The trunk with "white colour" is an adventure!
Mushrooms amaze me at how quickly they grow but I don't know the differences so I never eat them unless I get they at the grocery store. Your soup looks amazing. I love most anything that has mushrooms in it.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
Fungi are fascinating.
ReplyDeleteOh yum! I haven't made homemade mushroom soup in years now - ever since we've been empty nesters as hubby won't touch it (he won't eat any cream soups).

Violets and Pansy are very pretty with such strong colors. Mushroom Soup- sounds delicious...My Partner (Chris) puts Mushrooms in her Beef Stroganof meals - very nice to eat. All the Best. KEV.
ReplyDeleteI have a blogging friend in England who's also posting aa lot of mushroom photos lately. What a pretty pansy!
ReplyDeleteI love mushroom soup, I haven't made it for a long tie. Love the pansy, it looks so pretty.
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I are big mushroom (edible kind!) fans. Your fungus post reminded me of growing up in Colorado where we had this type of fungus (?) that I called a puff because when you crushed it, it crumpled so easily like a piece of paper. I'm sure little kid me was releasing thousands of fungus spores into the air everytime I stepped on one but it was satisfying! God bless! I don't have a blog but I sure do enjoy reading about your day. xx
ReplyDeleteMushroom soup sounds good. Pansies are so veautiful.
ReplyDeleteThat is quite a clump of mushrooms all growing together!
ReplyDeleteThe pansy on the plate sure looks pretty.
Good soup!
ReplyDeleteIt took me a long time to get used to cooking for two people again, after the children all left home. It seemed every recipe I had needed to be adjusted! Your soup looks delicious - much nicer than bought soup :)
ReplyDeleteThat first photo . . . I saw a heart pattern in the mushrooms, so pretty. It's very hard cooking for two and even more for one. I find myself eating more eggs . . . they are fast, healthy and cheap :) Once in a while I invite company and cook a big meal and then I portion out my leftovers and freeze them. It's a great way to not give up those meals that you love but that take more time and effort to make.
ReplyDeleteIn relationship to the comment you left on my blog: I was hoping there would be someone with faded chairs that would be inspired by this post. Faded does not mean that they are not still strong and have lots of life in them . . . kind of like me, I'm faded from the years but i've not given up on life.
God bless you sweet friend,
Connie :)
