When I went walking this morning the wind was already blowing fairly hard. Now, at 3 o"clock, it's a lot windier. We just noticed that a very large branch of an old Lilac bush in the back has broken off.
My plan for today involved baking but that plan has changed. Already some 40,000 locals are without power and I'm not going to take the chance that our power goes out when I'm in the middle of baking.
Thank you for all the Thanksgiving wishes. We had a lovely family meal and the only small glitch was when I was going to drain and mash the potatoes only to find I had neglected to turn on the stove. Luckily DH had cut the potato pieces quite small and they cooked quite quickly.
Nothing else to write about today so I'll just have to sit and read until it's time to start supper.
Thanks for visiting, G.M.
Oh, I am so glad I am not the only one to do things like forget to turn the stove on...or make something and then forget to serve it!
ReplyDeleteRe the cup on my blog...I thought immediately of you an another friend that used to blog. Any time I see teacups I now think of you two.
Hope your power doesn't go out. Probably a good idea to skip the baking just in case!
ReplyDeleteVisiting from Henny Penny Lane. Glad your Thanksgiving was good. I have done that very thing before, in forgetting to turn on the stove. Seems you handled it wonderfully.
ReplyDeleteWindy here too! Most of the leaves are gone:)
ReplyDeleteWind caused power outages here, too, but our home was spared. It was wild and rainy for much of the day. Now for more sunshine? We can hope.
ReplyDeleteWe lost power several times here at the RV park today but luckily only for short times. Just enough to have to reset all of the clocks. The wind blew like crazy most of the day. It does seem to be calming down now but it's still blowing.
ReplyDeleteTake care.
Blessings,
Betsy
I can imagine, that the storm is huge! Here we also have hard weather, we expect snow in the higher regions. Hope electric power will soon come back to the places in your region! Hope you can bake a good cake later withour a brake :) Fine, that you still have power. Stay safed!
ReplyDeleteNice drawings you found! :)
Hi GM- hasn't been windy here. When the power goes out I use to boil the billy on a little gas stove- silly me I parted with the stove several years ago- now I could use the gas BBQ so all is not lost. Regards. KEV. (Sydney-Australia).
ReplyDeletePraying for your power to stay on and for no bad harsh weather your way GM. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteWe are due to have a planned electricity cut next week, but at least we have a warning.
ReplyDeleteWe've had a few of those windy days too. Thankfully it is pretty calm now.
ReplyDeleteWe've had a day of wind also, it is bringing in the cooler damper weather. It's better to not turn the stove on, then to turn it on and forget. Seems like you remedied that quickly and all was not lost.
ReplyDeleteIt wouldn't be Thanksgiving Dinner if we didn't forget to do something :) I like those windy days, watching the leaves blow around, up and down. Sorry about the power outages though!
ReplyDeleteI hope that your power wasn't affected by all of that wind. Glad the potato story had a happy ending.
