The lake looked almost ominous when we set out but soon it brightened up somewhat. It didn't last. After we got home it began to rain.
We're having extended family over this evening and some baking was required. With the help of my DH I made mini quiches (the filling consists of onion, farmer sausage, crisp bacon and of course cheese)
And just because the ready made tart shells are so handy we made butter tarts. I had extra filling so the last tart shells got pecans instead of raisins.
Now I plan on having a little sit down before I finish tidying the house.
I hope you have a great weekend!!
Thanks for popping by,
GRANNY M.
Pretty reflection of the trees in the water!!
ReplyDeleteOh how wonderful to hear family over!! Some good cooking 🥰 have a wonderful evening 💖
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your top two photos. Makes me want to go camping there. ❤
ReplyDeleteColor is finally happening in our native trees. We were out on an extended errand today and really appreciated being able to see some autumn beauty.
ReplyDeleteYour baking looks yummy.
Your tarts look delicious....I would like to try either one! The lake is lovely too. the way our weather is heading....our lake will soon have ice forming on it. At least the Loons were smart and headed South!
ReplyDeleteThose little quiches and tarts look SO good. I made homemade chicken pot pie for us tonight. It was delicious with the snow still falling outside. I hope you had a lovely time with family.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
Beautiful pictures. I like your " having a little sit down". I do that frequently during the day doing chores. Its good to catch up with yourself. Your countertop is very pretty. And the little pies look yummy. Put the cofee on, I'll come have a little sit down with you.
ReplyDeleteI would love to taste both things you baked...and so love both pics of the lakes. Each a different mood...but both so lovely.
ReplyDeleteThe yellow trees with the reflexion in the sea look like a golden wonder!
ReplyDeleteThese cakes and quiches are the fruits of a super house-woman, who somtimes is sitting a little down before doing the next fine work or decoration in house and garden. Lucky family!
Hi G.M. - Lovely photos of the Lake in Autumn. Your baking looks lovely too- making me hungry just looking- Yumm!! Regards. KEV.
ReplyDeleteOh, those quiches and tarts look so GOOOOD! Hope you had a good visit! :)
ReplyDeleteAlright, you amazing baker! Adam and I are sitting here wondering what in the world a butter tart is! I read what you wrote about the raisins and the pecans. What is the filling? Butter? brown sugar? I'm wondering if they turned out like mini pecan pies. And then I'm wondering what a pecan pie would be like without the pecans (which Adam is allergic to), but with raisins insteaad!
ReplyDeleteThe baking looks awesome, I bet it tastes yummy too!
ReplyDeleteYou always bake the most delicious looking tarts. I may have to give the ready made shells a try. It always amazes me that the lake never looks the same from one day to the next. It was beautiful this day!
ReplyDeleteI hope your family visit went well - I imagine those delicious looking tarts did not last very long!
ReplyDeleteLove the autumn reflections in your second lake photo :)
Beautiful pictures GM and my mercy girl....I want one of the quiche! YUM!!!! Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteOh, your tarts look amazing . . . I wish we could smell them over the computer screen. I am imagining your home smelling absolutely heavenly.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you and your family,
Connie :)
I love that top photo of the lake!
ReplyDeleteThe tarts I can't look at too long because... you know.
You have much more will power than me, I would have eaten half of those before guests arrived!
