This and That

It's another lovely sunny day. I've worked outside and now it's too hot to be out there. Later on Sheila and Callum are coming by and we'll sit in the shade and  visit ( nicely spaced 6' apart).

The roses are not real. Maybe later when it cools off I will go out and see if I can find enough for a small bouquet.

It's Dora Saint's birthday today. She is better known as Miss Read.  Born in 1913 I believe she lived to be 99 years old.  ( I 'm wrong. She died just 10 days before her 99th birthday).

If you enjoy Hopalong Hollow did you watch Jeri Lander's latest post__ Rabbits, Roots, and  Granola?
I find myself taking less time at my computer when the weather is fine but it's always nice to relax and watch something while sipping a lovely cup of tea.  Do you drink hot tea in summer? Or are you more an ice tea person?

Whatever the weather where you live I hope you're having a very pleasant day.

  1. I really cannot imagine hot weather! This April here in Bavaria is colder than normally. But somehow I feel naturally like an Inuit :)

Have fine tea tomorrow on Sunday, dear Granny Marigold!

  2. I discovered a new tea... hibiscus... this winter and can't wait to tried it iced when the weather warms up. I am an occasional hot tea drinker but I do enjoy iced tea. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  3. My Mum loved Miss Read books. They are all still there in her landing cupboard and I often think I should take them to read. I drink hot tea all year, I can't imagine a day without my coffee in the morning and tea after lunch. I'm such a creature of habit!

  4. It's pretty nice here today ....about 55 degrees F. I will have an occasional cup of tea but I must admit I am more of a coffee person. I drink flavored coffee and each day drink a different flavor in the morning with my breakfast. Oh I also like Chai tea but I always drink it hot!

  5. Unsweet iced tea and unsweet iced coffee here! And the "aguas" like watermelon and mango and jimica (hibiscus). It will soon be "too hot" here...for the next 5.5 months. Our roses are blooming like crazy this week.

  6. "It's so hot" there, and we are quite chilly. There's even a frost/freeze in the forecast for Tuesday. I am worried about a few of the tender things I have up now. I have added Miss Read to my list of books to read...maybe next winter.

  7. I worked outside too! The weather was lovely. A cool breeze comes up in the evening, but it's not going to get below 40 tonight so I left all my vegetable starts outside for the night. I've been bringing them out of the greenhouse some days. It gets pretty warm in there now.

  9. I don't think I have heard Miss Read's real name before and I definitely didn't know that she lived to (almost) 99.
I occasionally watch Hopalong Hollow but have not seen the one you mention. I am eating a bowl of granola as I read blogs this morning so maybe I should also watch this episode.
As for tea, I mostly drink iced in the warm weather. I am trying to incorporate at least one cup of green tea into my days as I am constantly hearing how good it is for us.

  10. Hard to imagine it being too hot to be outside!
I drink hot tea year round and don't even like iced tea.
I'm in the process of reading Miss Read books.

  11. Your tea cup photos are so pretty! I love Jeri Landers and her Hop-along Hollow videos! I like hot tea in the late afternoon.
So enjoyed your pretty post today!

  12. Someone on an Elizabeth Goudge Facebook Group page mentioned Dora Saint just today, and it reminded me of the delightful Miss Read series. I read those books a couple of times each, years ago, and I miss them a lot. Would love to reread, but they all came from a library a town across the state. Our library has no copies of her books. I do own two of them, and I've read them over and over :) I just love returning to Fairacre and watching all the antics at the school and how Miss Read handles them.
I started drinking coffee in the mornings and have rather gone off tea. I don't drink iced tea because I don't like it unsweetened, and I'm supposed to avoid sugar now. So I drink boring water.
Glad you're getting a family visit in. That's nice!
