What is happening? I'm posting 3 days in a row!!! The forecast for today was cooler ( or so I thought) so I planned a baking day. Hmmm. I was wrong. Nevertheless I baked 2 carrot cakes ( thank you to my DH who grated the carrots), and an Angel food cake ( just a box mix). We did our weekly grocery shopping first thing this morning and I bought strawberries. I love to put sugared strawberries and Cool Whip on Angel food cake. Yum.
I also put in an hour's work in the flower garden. In spite of the drought weeds still grow. Luckily a bit of hoeing and the sun does the rest. The Daylilies are loving all the sunshine. I've noted which varieties are doing the best and may replace the ones not doing great but that will have to wait until next Spring.
So that was my lovely day. I hope yours was a good one too.
Thanks for coming by. I'll leave you with this old photo taken here in town back in the days when gas was under 40 cents a Gallon.
Nice information about Scientific Name of Marigold in hindi
ReplyDeleteGas...36 cents. Whoa!!
ReplyDeleteI love strawberries, whipped cream & angel food cake too!! And I use a blender for grating carrots for carrot cake (in water...then drain).
Hi G.M. We pay $1.40 per Litre for Ethanol Petrol...last year in April it went as low as $0.72 per litre. I think there is about three litres to a US Gallon? Anyways- I like your Cake Cooking- yummy! Regards. KEV. (Sydney-Australia).
ReplyDeleteAngel food cake sounds so good, I haven't had one in years. What are you going to do with 3 cakes?! I love the old photo, very cool. Have a fantastic weekend. :)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy those baked goodies! That old car reminds me of one that putters past me when I'm out walking. So cute! :)
ReplyDeleteI love Angel food cake with strawberries and whipped cream. Not crazy about cool whip!!
ReplyDeleteI can remember getting gas at the cheap gas stations for 28 cents back in the late 60's. I remember Esso too!! Back then it was nice that the attendants pumped your gas, cleaned the windows and checked your oil. Even air was free. :)
Angel food cake and berries make the foundation for a yummy dessert, but I want vanilla ice cream with mine.
ReplyDeleteThe cake looks delicious! The best bread for hungry angels!!!
ReplyDeleteI also bake a lot of cake, very simple, but it contents best ingrediences and own eggs and not too much sugar. All love this cakes, and so I have to bake every second day. I think it's the same in your family, ha ha!
In this moment I did a chocolate-cherry cake from my oven: Nightbaking, when all is quiet. Tomorrow all have some sweet joy :)
Funny how weeds survive the drought and the plants we want suffer.
ReplyDeleteGreat minds!!! We just finished an angel food cake with strawberries on top last week! Yum! Hope your weather cools down soon!
ReplyDeleteYay for three posts in a row! I love the old picture. Those were the good old days for sure!
ReplyDeleteThe cake looks really tasty! Great old photo too...
ReplyDeleteHave a beautiful day!
Titti
Your angel food cake looks wonderful and reminds me that I haven't had one for several years. It used to be my husband's favourite cake, now he prefers others. Gas prices are CRAZY!
ReplyDeleteThat cake looks wonderful, add some berries and cream and its makes for the perfect desert.
ReplyDeleteAngel food cake brings memories of my sweet Mother-in-law. She made them quite often, frequently for neighbors, and would put it inverted on a Coca Cola bottle to cool..:)
ReplyDeleteYes, gas prices are awful. When I was a teenager driving my parents' car, I had 50 cents for gas...and the attendant told me "not to go to far now!" :))
Blessings, Linda
I don’t know angel food cake, but it looks very good! With strawberries. The name of this cake is nice.
ReplyDeleteWow! A picture of an angel food cake to start off a blog post is very dramatic! Angel food cakes have been a rare thing in my life and experience... I'm not even sure that I've ever baked one. But it seems they would be beautiful with strawberries!
