Last year I was given a small raspberry plant not much bigger than a twig. I didn't know where to put it because I am very short of space by now. In the back near a gate that gives a second access to the front of the house I plunked it in the corner. No rain hit it there and no attention was paid to its wellbeing. As you can see it has grown!!! I must find out what to do with it come spring. I would like to make a row there since so far nothing has thrived in that area.
I have had numerous small bowls of lovely raspberries these past weeks. I even had enough today to make a small batch of jam ( I added a chopped apple to 'extend' the raspberries. I love raspberry jam but my DH does not so I'll be enjoying 'my' jam on my morning toast.
My 2 little jars of raspberry/apple jam. Below that is some rhubarb/strawberry jam we made earlier in the week.
We had a light rain last night. Just enough to settle the dust but hopefully we'll get more. It's still cloudy out there so I'm hopeful.
I hope you're having a lovely weekend. Thanks for visiting, GM
Looking good! ours is small yet, no flowers maybe next year.
ReplyDeleteYour jams look so yummy! Our red raspberries are beginning to ripen now so I will soon be making some raspberry jam also.
ReplyDeleteAll of your jams look good ...
ReplyDeleteWe could do with some rain, our weather has been very hot and dry recently.
All the best Jan

I'm glad you were able to find a place to tuck that little raspberry plant in. Your jam looks so good and pretty in the jars with the red and white lids. Is your jam considered a freezer jam?
ReplyDeleteNo, it wouldn't be. It does have to be kept in the fridge though.
DeleteRaspberry jam is my favorite, so I'll have a virtual toast and jam with you there in your beautiful garden. Your lovely jars filled with jam are almost too pretty to use. I hope that the rains will soon be coming back to parched soils all over this land.
ReplyDeleteYum!
ReplyDeleteI love raspberry jam but don't like the seeds so I only buy the seedless kind. I've never made any kind of jam. Yours looks delicious.
ReplyDeleteAll your jams look just scrumptious! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThat raspberry bush is happy! Don't mess with it too much.
ReplyDeleteRaspberries are my favorites! We expect strong heat next days. Today I found 3 raspberries in our garden - not more.. So my daughter in law Sophie sat some new plants for more raspberries next year.....
ReplyDeleteMmmm!.... Rasberry Jam on hot toast with melted butter- just delicious for breakfast.
ReplyDeleteHow amazing that the raspberry plant thrived in that spot. Maybe you should pur in a row there. Seems like every thing you put in the ground does good. Your jams and jellies always look so delivious and you make it sound so simple. If I try any kind of pickling or preserves, the whole kitchen looks like a war zone.
ReplyDeleteMy mouth is puckering up with just the thought of red raspberry jam!! Love it. A peanut butter & raspberry jam sandwich is now gonna be my lunch to be sure!!
ReplyDeleteOh my mercy does your jam look so good and beautiful! What better than toast or a biscuit with a little fresh jam right? I hope that you have a beautiful week lady. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteOh I love raspberry jam and your's looks delicious. That's a nice amount of jam for one bush! Yum.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
Good morning, Granny! Your jam looks delightful!
ReplyDeleteYour jams are so pretty! How wonderful that that little snip of berry plant decided to flourish!
ReplyDeleteHi GM! You left a comment about the corn: That I have yet to find out, I think more then one set grows on a stalk, when I've purchased cornstalks in the fall, they sometimes have multiple corns on them. Some of that jam would be good on my homemade sourdough sandwhich bread, YUM!
ReplyDeleteI love homemade jams...both are wonderful raspberry and also strawberry.
ReplyDeleteI wish you a happy breakfast :-)))
Hug of Viola
