Last Day of 2022

Happy last day of the year! I must confess my day had a rather unfortunate happening. I turned the kitchen tap on to fill the kettle then went away and forgot about it for a while. Maybe 5 or 6 minutes. Enough time to create a minor flood in our kitchen and a worse one downstairs in Middle Son's dining room. (The water  ran down the heat register, onto their overhead fan, which  threw it in all directions). I feel dreadful and I vow from now on  I WILL NOT LEAVE THE ROOM WHILE  FILLING THE KETTLE !

So I changed my header, as you may have noticed, then I changed it again because I saw how the picture made it look like all the teacups were going to slide down to the left. Hopefully this time I chose a better one.

We've had quite a lot of rain and most of the snow has disappeared. No snow in the immediate future which suits me fine. I know the daylight is very slowly starting to increase and look forward to the longer days. Meanwhile I'm still tidying up around the house which seems to be a never ending task.

Thanks for visiting,
Granny M

  2. I loved your header before and I love it now. All of those beautiful teacups. I'm so sorry about the flooding. We all make mistakes. It can be fixed so please don't beat yourself up about it.
I have all of the Christmas decorations packed up and the apartment is back to normal. There is a band playing downstairs tonight, "George and the Juniors." I don't know what kind of music they play, but we'll probably go downstairs and listen for awhile.
    Happy New Year!
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  4. I know it's not funny at all but the image I got of the water hitting the fan made me smile. Glad you caught it before it got much worse.

    Blessings~

  5. I live on the edge doing things like that. So now we are on to a new day and a new year so that's all behind us. Your new header is so nice and a perfect start for the new year. It seemed to me today that daylight lasted a little longer; just my imagination I know but it made me happy.

  6. We all do silly things sometimes, so I hope your little "adventure" will become something everyone will laugh about in the future.
Stay safe and enjoy your New Year celebrations :) xx

  11. Oh Granny Marigold, I know you must have felt awful. Things like that happen to all of us...well to me anyhow. Reminds me of the time I put the sugar water on to boil and went outside and completely forgot about it...until I saw smoke coming out an open window. Thankfully it was just the burning sugar and not the house on fire. It's so easy to get busy and forget. I love your new header! All the teacups are beautiful. I had to stop and look at them for a while. Happy New Year!

  12. Your teacups make a beautiful header!

I have walked away from so many similar tasks-in-the-middle, leaving water running, stovetop on, freezer open, etc. Multitasking is hard!

  13. A beautiful header! I hope the water-problem is far away now. My year also is beginning with some problems, because bad boys want to have - to steel! - Xaver's farm and freedom...
We also have very mild weather in the Bavarian Forest. . More easy for me...
    I have cleaning-day today, you have loundry-day, I suppose..

    Have a blessed new year!

  14. Oh water issues can be so awful! I hope you didn’t have too much damage. I love your teacup photo — I hadn’t noticed any appearance of sliding. And yes, I am looking forward to longer days as well and I noticed that happening just the other evening. Our weather has been so mild that I have been enjoying being outside with the Trixster and am thinking of trying to spend more time out doors in days to come. I thinkI spend too much time cooped up inside

  15. I pay special attention to the iron and stove...these are my weak points. There have been times when I've gone back to see if I turned off the stove... I think it's a lack of concentration... one thing done and the next in my head. Yes, be careful with your kettle, there's no harm in just standing by while you fill it with water. hug from me

  17. Oh no. Sounds like me a burned bread in the oven...when ever I put the broiler on I stand there and watch...hope the damage wasn't too bad. :(
