Strange Weather

Strange weather again today.  It was overcast when we went walking but it didn't look like rain so we didn't bother with umbrellas.  Not long after we got back the sky opened and we had heavy rain. Now, an hour later, the sun is shining. I checked the forecast and apparently we can expect thunderstorms and gusty winds before the day is done. I'm planning an inside day and am continuing my sorting of children's books.

On our walk we saw the tiny hummingbird that sits on a certain shrub most mornings. Not far from this shrub the biggest of our local birds, the majestic eagle, sits. From one extreme to the other. We haven't been able to see if the other eagle is sitting on the nest but we think so since lately only one sits in the tall trees overlooking the lake.

Another Amaryllis is blooming. I'm looking forward to the time when night temperatures stay above 10C so I can move all 9 Amaryllis out onto the porch. They take up a lot of space in the sunroom.

That's it for today. Thanks for coming by,  GM

  1. I think 'April' is synonymous with 'strange weather!' My rosemarys went out on the screened porch last week and seedling trays into the small unheated greenhouse. I know too well that the weather could turn cold again and all the plants need to be covered or trundled back into the house. Gardening, indoors or out, requires some energy!

  8. We had beautiful sunshine all day and about an hour ago, 10:30 pm., thunderstorms moved in. Lots of rain pouring down. Tomorrow is supposed to be the same.
Tiny hummingbirds and majestic eagles. What a beautiful sight that must have been. I miss seeing the pairs of eagles nesting at the lake every spring and summer. I always had hummingbird feeders there too. How I miss those days, but God is giving us new ones to enjoy here.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  9. We also have exciting weather with sun, rain, snow in higher regions and some thunderstorms or even hail. We call this "April-weather". In Andalusia its completely dry and hot since years..
Big and little birds - nature is a great wonder!
Your plants and all have a very good and sheltered loving home by you.

  11. The weather has been very changeable here, too. Rather chilly, I think. How fun to see the hummingbird and the eagle - nature's contrast.
