I don't seem to be very faithful in posting lately. Not much is happening. The weather, which has been very rainy, is forecast to improve. Maybe once I can putter outside I'll have more to write about.
I had a lovely unexpected visit from Eldest Daughter and Youngest Son today. They brought me beautiful flowers. After coffee and cookies they left and I had a nice nap.
My Thanksgiving Cactus is showing signs of slowing down as the blooms wither and no new ones appear. It did very well this year, better than the white one.
Once again I had milk to use up and also happened to have 2 cups of pumpkin puree in the fridge....
the result? Impossible Pumpkin Pie. On the weekend I made a Chiffon cake. When we kept a few hens I had lots of eggs and would make this cake often. Now with the price of eggs I think twice ( it takes 7 eggs). However Walmart had eggs for $2.66 a dozen so I made sure to stock up. I checked the best before date and it's May.
That's it for today. I hope your week is going along nicely. Just a reminder that Thursday, the 14th,
is Pi day. In case you wanted reminding. *smile*

Your post is so sweet, it makes me want to pull up a chair and enjoy a cup of coffee over some lovely conversation. Your blog has such a warm and comfortable feel about it. I love visiting and seeing want your up to.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely week sweet blogging friend and God bless you.
Your blogging sister, Connie :)
That cactus is absolutely beautiful! Maybe one day my yellow one will look that hardy and have lots of blooms like yours. The chiffon cake looks so tasty! I made pumpkin scones today...and thanks for the reminder about PI day. I'll need to decide what kind I will make for my hubby.
ReplyDeleteYou're lots better about posting than I am. With all of the stress with Mom we're barely home anymore until after I get her into bed at night. They're trying new meds as of today that will hopefully make life better for us all.
ReplyDeleteThe cake and pie look so yummy. I would love to stop in and have a bite. And how wonderful to have flowers dropped by. They are so beautiful.
I hope your Wednesday is a beautiful one.
Blessings and hugs,
Betsy
Nice post. It has flowers, sweet, a recipe that makes us feel good. Thanks
ReplyDeleteMy red cactus is coming to an end now. It has been full of flower since last November! Your flower gifts are lovely.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice time you had with your children. The weather here is getting better so I am able to get out for a walk now and then.
ReplyDeleteYour flowers and your plant are so lovely.
Both of your bakes look so good I am trying so hard to not bake I am trying to lose a few pounds.

It's wonderful that you received such a beautiful bouquet of flowers... it's just very fint to bake cakes and then drink coffee with loved ones... a hug for you.
ReplyDelete...I baked bread rolls today. Nice.
The flowers are beautiful and the cake looks so delicious. Happy Spring!
ReplyDeleteThe flowers are lovely.
ReplyDeleteYummy baking going on at your house. It all looks so good.
Eggs here also became very expensive, because of the wheat in the Ukraine. We still sell our eggs for the same old prize, so we will never become rich with our chicken. But the eggs are beautiful and "happy" and the hens are so nice. It's such a fine thing, when your children come and bring some flowers to you. And a peaceful nap in the afternoon is wonderful! Your cactus made good work!
ReplyDeleteWell that chiffon cake looks so good! Wish I had a piece right now. I love the color of your Thanksgiving cactus....so pretty.....and aren't you lucky to have kids bring you flowers! You are blessed. Enjoy your week.
ReplyDeleteLovely! I am not around as much but so nice to see you here still! 🥰❤️🫂
ReplyDeleteI always love to see pictures of that unusual Thanksgiving cactus. My Christmas cactus is blooming right now, too :-)
ReplyDeleteAlways a nice surprise to have an unexpected visit from your "children". The flowers are beautiful. What a thoughtful family you have.
ReplyDeleteImpossible pumpkin pie looks delicious. I used to make impossible quiche. I need to remember to try one of the sweet versions.
All this lovely baking! I would like to come to you house for coffee hour!
ReplyDeleteNice flowers happy pi day!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful bouquet! I too stocked up on eggs at Walmart but the expiry was not as great as yours being in the middle of April. But yes, the price of eggs has put some recipes on the back burner for now. (I had thought of baking a pie but laid down until the feeling passed me by, lol.)

What a lovely bouquet from your children. Your baking looks delicious. I'm fond of chiffon cake, too, but it does take a lot of eggs!
ReplyDeleteI was just thinking the other day that it would be nice to have a big bouquet of flowers, so I am enjoying yours.
