I made these scones on the weekend. I see I went rather heavy on the glaze :)
A recipe that did NOT turn out was one for Savory Scones. It called for cheese and jalapenos among other ingredients. The mixture was impossible to form into balls which were to be flattened( too crumbly). I improvised and pressed it into an 8X8 pan to bake. They really are not very tasty and are disappointing. O well. I can't complain. It's rare that a recipe actually ends up inedible.
picture from the internet. Sorry, no picture of my failed results.
Thank you for all the concern many have expressed re my foot. Healing continues.
Thanks for visiting
You are certainly a blessing to your family with all of the good things you bake.
ReplyDeleteHow industrious you are, and with a foot that is healing as well! I have all the ingredients to make my seasonal pumpkin nut muffins, but I haven't been able to get myself motivated to actually bake them. I did manage to put together some sausage muffins though, and I have been enjoying them with fruit for breakfast daily for the past week. I am glad to hear that your foot is continuing to improve.
ReplyDeleteI also enjoy trying recipes. Sometimes they turn out and sometimes not, but it is fun to try.
ReplyDeleteYummy things you bake. I'd like the extra glaze!! :)
ReplyDeleteExperiences never end - also not for an experienced baker, dear Granny Marigold. I think you have now a splendid repertoir and good reserves for your great family!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your foot is continuing to heal. I hope you took a lot of sit down breaks while baking so as not to irritate it. As for the glaze on the scones, you can never have too much glaze. :-) Everything looks so delicious. Your family is so blessed to have you baking for them. Yum!
ReplyDeleteBlessings and hugs,
Betsy
All of your baked goodies look so tempting. I had never thought of making an impossible quiche. I just checked to see if they make a gluten free Bisquick and they do. We love quiche and I think it would be fun to give it a try. Thank you for sharing your experience with the savory scones. I've always wondered how they would turn out, but have never tried making them myself.
ReplyDeleteIt is fun trying out new recipes - recently I've made a successful Broccoli Quiche and a disastrous Carrot Salad. Like you say, they are seldom inedible, just flops :)
ReplyDeleteThat is a lot of baking. I couldn't choose a favorite, if I had to. I love the idea of using a toothpick to separate the meat from the rest of the dish. That scones look delish and too much glaze is better than not enough!
ReplyDeleteI love stopping by here when you have been baking! My hubby would never be able to resist the glazed scones. At our house, I am the carnivore, not by choice, but out of necessity. :~/
ReplyDeleteSo pleased your foot continues to heal.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Everything you baked looks so yummy....especially the cheese buns.
ReplyDeleteThe things you bake always look so delicious. Wish I lived next door!
ReplyDeleteLove looking at and reading about your baked goodies. You made me smile because I cook the same way for my husband.....half on one side the other half on the other side marked.
ReplyDeleteYour baked goodies look and sound so good. I have to make separate meals sometimes for my husband as well!
ReplyDeleteOh a baking day! I would love to do that again. Maybe soon.
ReplyDeleteIt must have smelled really good in your kitchen.
ReplyDeleteI used to make impossible quiche regularly when my boys were growing up. I think I need to revisit that recipe as it was always a hit.
