It seems like such a long time since I last posted. That might be because I've been doing very little as I sit with ice on my foot and wait for it to get better. I walk around with a cane but try to sit and keep my foot propped up. Seems I did more harm than I thought. The timing was bad as we were on our way to Sheila's when it happened ( I went anyway. I was not going to miss Thanksgiving with my family.)
Then that same week we celebrated Youngest son's birthday on Thursday and Eldest daughter the next day. Yes, I managed to have them 12 years and one day apart!
Both of them requested Bienenstich as their birthday cakes which was so easy. There's a lovely little restaurant locally that makes them and you can buy them frozen which is so convenient. Are you familiar with Bienenstich? It's a German cake which consists of two layers of cake with a layer of fluffy cream filling. It has a topping of almonds and honey.
Then we had the October full moon on an almost clear night. (I didn't take this picture).
Do you use an actual calendar or just rely on your phone? I couldn't manage without a calendar on which I put all the year's birthdays, anniversaries, appointments, etc...
Sheila gave me this one for 2025.
I hope to get back on track with posting every 2 days as I mostly manage to do. Thank you all for the prayers and wishes for my foot.
Thanks for visiting, GM
I'm sorry your foot is being stubborn about healiing quickly. It seems as we get older it takes longer to heal. That cake both looks and sounds delicious. I don't think we have it around here but maybe I'll have to do some calling around. Please take care of yourself and stay off of that foot!
ReplyDeleteBlessings and love,
Betsy
Your new calendar looks so nice....and doesn't that cake look delicious. I never heard of that kind before. Sorry to hear that your foot is taking some time to heal. Hope you'll be feeling much better soon. Prayers going up for you!
ReplyDeleteOh, I do hope your foot heals soon. It's hard to be laid up when there are things you want to do. I love Bienenstich, although I've never made it. How great to have a local store that offers it. I like a paper calendar best, and keep one, but my husband says if something isn't on our shared online calendar it doesn't exist, so I try to keep up with that, too. Take good care, GM.
ReplyDeleteLovely cake! I rely on not only a calendar, but two diaries also!
ReplyDeleteIt is always nice to gather with family! I have not heard about the Bienenstich cake, it looks good! And so good for you that you could buy the cake. It would have been hard for you if you had to do a lot of baking with your foot. Keep up good recovery! I also have to have a calendar to keep track. I love the calendars like you got from Lang. Unfortunately, it is difficult to get hold of them in Norway. I can buy them from abroad, but then they will be so expensive with postage. For many years I received one for Christmas from a now deceased friend in US.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry your foot is still bothering you. Happy Belated birthday wishes for your son and daughter. That cake looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteI'm visiting your blog from Farmhouse Worthy. Happy Birthday to your sons. That cake sounds delish. I use the calendar on the computer but I NEED my paper calendar as well. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
ReplyDeleteIt is so good to see a post up from you. I'm glad that you are taking care of yourself. Happy Birthday to your son and daughter and also a happy belated Thanksgiving to you!
ReplyDeleteThe cake looks delicious!
Yes, I still keep a calendar on the fridge for important dates, a journal, and I also still keep an actual address book (and still use cash)....all typical of baby boomers, lol.

Oh dear, I am so sorry about your foot. We two grannies shall just have to hobble along and commiserate together!
ReplyDeleteThat cake looks divine. Wish we had it here.
Do take care, GM. My knee is a hassle and painful but a foot would be very limiting.
Oh goodness! I am sorry it is still bothering you so much! I hope you didn't break it! I too, need to use a written calendar. I also have a big white board in my kitchen I use to write important weekly events, and I keep a calendar with notes in my purse. I need the visual reminder. Continued prayers for healing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty calendar - I hope the inside pages are just as pretty. I missed seeing the full moon this month as it was too cloudy.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry your foot injury has turned out worse than you originally thought. Keep resting, and I hope it heals soon.
Take care (and enjoy your rest!), Mxx
Hi GM! I went to my post & clicked on the link I put in there, took me right to the website with no caution. Maybe you could just try looking it up without the link. I'm sorry that it gave you an issue.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear that your foot is still bothering you.
ReplyDeleteBelated birthday greetings to your son and daughter. I'm not familiar with the cake, but it sure does look yummy.
I still keep a calendar on the front of the fridge. As a matter of fact, I just bought the very one you show in your photo. I love the artwork.
Happy Belated Birthday to your son and daughter.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry it is taking your foot a long time to get better. I can imagine how much you miss your walk!
I still have a real calendar and it sits on my desk right in front of the computer.
I, too, am sorry about your foot. I know you like to be active and cook for your family.
ReplyDeleteI had not heard of that cake but it looks yummy.
I do keep a planning calendar on my kitchen counter where everything gets written down. There are pages in the back for notes for next year. January is getting filled up. :-) We have two wall calendars that we mostly just use to remind up of what day it is. Everything is also noted on our iPhones.
The cake looks yummy! I hope your foot improves with elevation and rest!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about your foot GM. I will pray for complete healing. Thank you for praying for me too. Oh that cake looks so good. I could use a slice with my coffee this morning. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
