Cherries and YouTube videos

Around here we're great lovers of all things cherry.  DIL alerted us to the sale of rain-damaged cherries ( some were split) at a good price at a local Fruit & Vegetable stand  so we got a 20 pound box ( $40). I hope the price will be even lower as the season progresses.

Do you enjoy watching You Tube videos?  I have watched Jeri Landry at Hop-a-long Hollow for some time and recently discovered Kate at The Last Homely House.  She mostly talks about quilting and crafts which I don't do but what I enjoy is her friendly chats.  It's as if she's right in the room across from you having a cuppa.  If you know of any videos that are along these lines I'd like to hear about them.

It's a lovely day here. I've been for my walk, did some gardening ( mostly cutting down finished Iris and Foxgloves).  Yesterday my DIL and I did some much-needed cleaning up in the back wild area. Later in the evening I noticed I had quite a rash on both ankles. I can only assume I brushed against some ferns back there. I've had trouble with ferns before.  Luckily the rash is not itchy and I'm sure it will go away by itself.

So now it's almost lunchtime. DH is at his volunteer 'job' this morning and he said he might stop at a  U-Pick raspberry field that he passes on his way back and do a little picking.  Fruit season is wonderful.

Thank you to everyone who tried to identify my mystery plant..  Gretchen Joanna managed to get a positive ID and it is a Nettle-leaved Bellflower.  Thanks GJ

Thanks for visiting!!   GM

  1. Cherry season is one of the best times of the year! I do love them. Cherry jam is so good.

  2. Glad you got that plant from yesterday identified.
We love cherries here too and just finished eating a big bowl of them.
Ken enjoys watching YouTube, me not so much!

  3. I posted about cherries too. We just eat them out of the bowl. We are not jam eaters, and baked goods are not on my weight loss diet right now. But I do love those luscious dark cherries.
Good to know about the plant identification, a companula for sure.

  4. I love cherries, and I watch youtube all the time. I watch hiking and walking videos like the Appalachian Trail, the Camino in Spain, and trails in the UK. Hope you saw my comment reply, that clematis is Clematis 'bijou'.

    1. Yes, thank you, I did see that you had replied. Just today my DIL sent me a picture of Clematis "Bijou" with a note that a friend of hers had gotten one. So now I'm on a search for Bijou.
Another coincidence is that I just read an article by Christine Sanders called Chemin de St. Jaccques. This article was in a magazine I've never hear of ( and of course can't remember the name) but the article was excellent and I wish she'd write a book instead of just that article.

  5. When I saw your pic of the cherries, I checked the orchard I used to work at. They didn't have any this year due to a late freeze. I could eat a quart at one time.

I found Kate about 1-2 years ago and love watching/listening to her. I love how any time she starts talking, here comes her cat Norma. I mostly watch quilting videos...with things about animals, and horses thrown in. And I watch a couple guys that show sewing machines. Oh, and one that I watch quite a bit is Fable the Raven...

  7. I watch Kate too! How funny is that out of all of the utube videos out there we watch the same one. I'll have to check out Hop-a-long Hollow too. I also like Tales from Cuckoo Land. Gayna is a Mom with three teenage boys and she tells about her everyday life. She's very involved in her garden right now. You might like her. We watch very little TV and mostly watch utube videos.
    Take care.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  8. I love cherries and must admit to been a tad envious of your haul. We haven't any pick your own fruit farms locally which is a shame as we used to love going particularly for strawberries.

  9. I too watch Kate at the Last Homely House. I am a big fan of Kates. Whether she is puttering about the house, sewing or gardening it is enjoyable. Eileen the goose, and Norma that camera hog cat...Love it. I also watch J's knit and purl jam videos, she does beautiful work, and fantastic tutorials. I am waiting for a package from Kate, I ordered some candles from her shoppe.

  11. I watch an awful lot of YouTube videos. I hardly ever watch my TV. I seem to gravitate toward thrifting videos (Crazy Lamp Lady) and garbage pickers (Taco Stacks and Paper and Moose). Don't ask me why! I've also been watching some political stuff. I won't go into that since it's so personal. But one of my favorite things is a channel called Relaxing Walker. This is videos of a man walking around various cities and towns in Israel. No music, no narration. Just walking serenely around town getting an up close look at various towns that I may never get to see in person. Cheap travel, if you ask me! :) I've watched both of the ladies you mentioned, and like them. I've been buying frozen cherries lately to put in my smoothies. Yummy!

  12. I love cherries. They don't grow around here so are rather expensive to buy in the supermarket. I 'treat' myself to some each season :)

  13. Cherries are fine fruits1 We hav a cherry-tree in our garden and share them with the birds :)

I wouldlike to tast a glass of this cherry-marmelade1

Fine that you have a garden, special blessing in these corona-times. Some people in the big cities are really locked in -

Congratulations for finding "Nettle-leaved Bellflower"! I have also bell-flowers, white and blue, but with other leaves, slim and fine leaves.

  14. I love cherries, but they are expencive to buy here. We had a tree in our garden many years ago, but it got sick in some way and had to be cut down and burned to not spread the sickness. I too love to watch Youtube videos. I mostly watch knitting videos. Many of them also talk about other things and share some lovely videoes from the landscape where they live. Britt Arnhild makes her videos both in Norwegian and English. Maybe you should try? https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCiaFW-RUPQ_JFi3gGFhkqGg
I will look at those you mentioned.
