Aprons

Do you wear an apron when you're working in the kitchen?  I do because I'm a messy cook. I  seem to get flour on myself and sugar on the floor. An apron doesn't keep sugar off the floor but it helps keep me tidy. I think the main problem is that I'm constantly wiping my hands.  If you follow Henny Penny's blog you know about the pretty aprons she makes. I can't sew but.....

...my sister does and she recently sent me this cute apron that is almost too pretty to wear. I just love the fabric!!

What's happening in your kitchen these days?  With DH and Youngest Son gone for a week I had a wonderful break from all cooking ❤❤❤   Now things are back to normal again.  I think tonight's supper will be a Savoury Impossible Pie. One of those Bisquick ones that always turn out. My kind of recipe. Easy and Tasty.

Thanks for coming by,   GM

  1. I do wear an apron. If I don't I will invariably get a grease spot on my favorite top. My mom got me started on aprons when I was a young helper in the kitchen. I love your new apron. Your sister did good!

  3. Oh Granny Marigold, your titlle caught my eye. I had to stop by. Your new apron is so cute! Thank you for the mention. Can you believe that I make and sell aprons but never think to wear one. I'm always getting grease on my shirts. I'm making up my mind right now to start wearing an apron. They are wonderful for wiping your hands and keeping a tissue in the pocket. Love your post!

  4. I LoVe your apron. I try to remember to wear one because I, too, am a very messy cook. The fabric of your new one is just so pretty. I always enjoy seeing Henny Penny's aprons too.
Tonight I made a homemade chicken pot pie for dinner. Yummy good.

  5. What a nice post! The aprons look so pretty! Your sister made a wonderful piece! When I was a young woman, I wore an apron like my mother in the kitchen. But now I don't have any time to wear a apron, because I have to cook spontaneous all the day :)
Have a good time with your family! I know, you always enjoy all with your fine cooking and baking!

  7. Hi GM, I have 3 aprons, sometime I wear one and sometimes not, although I should as I am messy in the kitchen. Isn't that quiet time nice? But it is good to have them return as well, everybody gets a break from the routine.

  8. I love the fabric your sister used to make your apron. Sometimes it's hard to wear an apron because they are so pretty I hate to think of getting stains on them. My dad died just before Christmas 2001. His last gift to me was a Christmas apron with gingerbread men on it. He had picked it out himself which was rather rare. I wear it every Christmas season, especially when I bake cookies. My mom always baked a lot of Christmas cookies so when I wear the apron I feel close to my parents again.

  9. I'm glad that you like the apron! I bought some vintage tablecloths at a garage sale that are screaming to be repurposed as aprons or throw cushions or tea towels....You asked what's happening in my kitchen...I'm baking buns again. I had the dough rising at 6:30 already. And yes, I did wear an apron!
    Love,
    Your sister who sews

  10. I do wear an apron much of the time, to prevent grease spots from staining my tee shirts. :-) They are not frilly aprons, however.

  11. I love aprons and have a big collection. I have sewn a few over the years, but mostly people keep giving me new ones. In my 20's I wrecked some favorite garments when not wearing an apron, and ever since, I am not able to get wholeheartedly into whatever kitchen work, unless I put one on. Thanks for this post, which makes me happy.

  13. I wear aprons for kitchen work and often at the table as I'm a messy person--as you say, always wiping my hands. I make mine from sturdy materials in the style that I think is called a 'chef's apron'. I always include large pockets along the bottom.

  14. I wear aprons because I am like you when I cook and my kitchen is not an easy place to cook! I will have a look at Mary’s blog now.

  15. I have to wear an apron if i am doing much at all because I cannot cook without getting spots on me. Would you believe I got over here with my daughter without my aprons I had made. I actually bought one because I just could not settle and sew at first. I actually like the one I bought. But I love making aprons because for the most part, don't have to worry about the fit. And I love that fabric your sister used, too.
