Last Days of Summer Sunshine

Happy First day of official Fall.  My calendar tells me that the 23rd is the day but the internet seems to say today.  Either way, it's here. Yesterday and today are perfect examples of late summer weather. Sunshine and temperatures in the low 20's.  My children were here for an hour and a half this morning. I can't believe how much cleaning up they got done. Four garbage cans of cut down Japanese Anemones and overgrown Perennial Sweet Peas. How I appreciate the help I get.

I took a few pictures of the lake this morning. The water level is lower than it's ever been.  The forecast is for rain so that will help fill it again.

 Thanks for coming by,  GM

  1. Children can be of such help to their parents. Glad yours did all that heavy whacking and stuffing into garbage cans. I always have a list for Michael to do when he arrives and of course, I have the ones that live nearby. Happy Fall, dear friend.

  5. Yes usually I think Autumn happens on the 22nd but for some reason this year they're saying the 23rd. OH well. Wow you do get a lot of help around your house...how wonderful that is. Our trees are beautiful this year...bright colors.
Wish Fall would last for a long time!

  6. I'm glad your kids got so much done for you. We had rain here most of the night and this morning. It was a wonderful day to just be lazy here and watch a few movies.
    Blessings,

  9. Joy about autumn is like a fire going from heart to heart! If one person loves autumn and two listen, we have three persons who love autumn! The lake is waiting for water, I see. Your leaves are more yellow than the leaves here in the Bavarian Forest. Day and night are equal on 23. September. This date changes a bit every year..

    Compliment to your sons!!!

  10. I'm glad to hear that officially fall is not the 21st, but is at least one day later than that, because I was a little late getting in all my summer posts!

How wonderful to have all that cleanup done and gone! I have been whittling away at my garden in a more gradual way. The figs are yet to start ripening, so I'll be busy with that harvest and some dried beans to get inside...

  12. Because the official time of the equinox falls in the middle of the night, depending on your time zone, it might be on either side of midnight, making the date different. Also did you know that the light/dark hours are not actually equal on the equinox? That happens later (the exact date depends on your latitude) and is called the equilux! - Sheila
