In the Garden

In the very back corner a straggly Weigela blooms, mostly unnoticed by anyone.

This Clematis, on the other hand, is close to the house and much admired.

English Daisies continue to do well.

And the chives need cutting down but they look so cheery I've left them for now.  Looks like Pansies are also vying for that space.  This is supposed to be my herb bed.

I've mentioned how most of my Foxgloves didn't make it through the winter. Now I'm finding tiny ones in odd places and I'm watching them carefully. I doubt  they'll bloom this year but by next year they will.

We did the grocery shopping this morning. I baked a cake and worked in the garden this afternoon. So the day goes.
 It was a good one.

Thanks for visiting today.

  1. I had a Weigela in my yard in upstate NY. It required no care, it grew like crazy, it bloomed every year and it was so pretty. It was in a very visible place but I'm not sure anyone else enjoyed it as much as I did.

    Love your other flowers.

  3. Oh my goodness.....your flowers are looking just awesome. That weigela is so pretty tucked in the corner there. and all the other flowers are wonderful too. What a cheery place you have with all those blossoms! What kind of cake did you bake? Everything you bake seems to turn out great too. Your lucky family gets to enjoy it all.

  5. Sounds like you have had a great day. If you want to be technical, you could say that the pansies are herbs as well - the flowers are edible and the plants also have medicinal value (although not commonly used these days). I'm glad some of your foxgloves have reseeded :)

  7. You already have so much color in your garden. Here, only my spring bulbs, irises, and bleeding heart are providing any color. We have a rainfall warning for our area now with over 2 inches of rain expected in the next 24 hours so gardening won't be on my agenda for awhile unless perhaps I wear flippers.

  8. Your Weigela is FULL of bloom! I've noticed that all of the Weigelas in our area (including mine) put on a lot of growth, but the bloom are a bit scarce. The Clematis is gorgeous! and I am so glad that you have found your Foxglove coming up in different places now. They are among my most favorite of perennials. I'm anxiously awaiting for my Canterbury Bells to bloom. This will be their first year to bloom and they are loaded with buds! Have a wonderful weekend! xx

  13. I watched a young vlogger from Germany cut her chive blooms, just like yours, and put them in a jar, then filling it with nice white vinegar. She turned the jar for a week (maybe) each day, and it turned a lovely light purple. She strained the flowers out and had a delicious chive-flavored vinegar, very nice for salads.
