A Mini Rant, a Swag and a Poinsettia Garden

I'm so disgusted with our local grocery stores for featuring all kinds of great deals on electronics and not only not lowering any prices on grocery items, they had the audacity to claim they had lowered prices when I know for a fact that the prices were exactly the same as they were last week. Which was NOT any lower than the week before.

Okay. My little rant is over.

Eldest came by and brought a pine swag for the front door.

She also brought a "poinsettia garden" ( that's what the tag calls it) consisting of a cordyline(?), a variegated ivy ( just barely visible) and what might be a small weeping fig. And the Poinsettia, of course.  I don't have much luck keeping Poinsettias alive but if it dies I still have the other plants.

Thank you for the comments on the Advent calendars. Connie ( Far Side) explained the jigsaw puzzle one. Apparently the puzzle pieces are in 24 small boxes and so part of the puzzle is done every day.
Isn't that a neat idea?

Just have to ask if anyone else had trouble with today's Wordle.  I was down to my very last guess when I finally got it. It was a tough one.  Worse than last week when the word was uvula. Anyone get that one? I sure didn't.

That's it for today. Have a lovely weekend.

  5. I think I kept up with Wordle, but I clearly don't remember. I was using my phone instead of my lap top.
Our grocery store only sells groceries, but so many of the sales are digital or membership based and hard to use.

  6. What a beautiful swag and plant. You have such thoughtful children. I admit, I don't grocery shop anymore. I make a list and Dennis shops. The prices were making me sick to my stomache. He just buys what I have on the list and doesn't look at the price because he doesn't know what they used to be! Ha! I also detest grocery shopping and always have. He doesn't mind and likes to be busy. I prefer home over the stores.
    Take care my friend,
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

  7. I have my poinsettia from last Christmas, one that I brought home from church afterward, and it's looking very healthy and happy - but -- how do I get it to make the red parts in time for Christmas? I don't suppose it can take much frost?

  10. Wordle has had some very odd words lately. So far I have managed to get them, often on the last try!

  12. We have Black Friday sales here, though who knows why (well, I do know why - so they can make money). It is my small rant that it is becoming a big thing but Thanksgiving is totally ignored. Business just wants to make money, not give thanks for the life they have.

  15. How lovely your pine door decoration is! Yes, purchasing groceries is so difficult these days for many. How pretty the poinsettia garden pot is! I have tried and tried to keep poinsettia growing but have not had any success.

  17. Your pine branch on the door is beautiful.
I bought an Advent calendar that contains tea... a nice tea every day. I'm looking forward to it.
    Kind regards to you.

  18. At least you will the enjoyment of the poinsettia for now. The truth be told, I bet some of the prices have gone up, or else the amount has gone down. I really did get tired of the items keeping the same price, but the amount going down. And some even keep the same size packaging, but it is not near as full. MY rant, though, if I were to voice it would be about the new washing machines. And it would not be near as short as yours. I need to do a post and show pics.

  19. I believe some stores mark items up in price just to mark them down. You received a beautiful door swag and poinsettia garden. I've never had any luck keeping the poinsettias alive either.

  20. Agree with your rant! Not planning on doing any Black Friday shopping myself. It just annoys me to be treated like sheep, to come baaaing when they throw crumbs.
I have been on a Wordle roll...my "streak" is 178 days so far. It does take all six guesses sometimes though.
