Baking and Autumn Leaves

I was browsing on Pinterest and I saw this picture of a loaf of fruit bread.  It reminded me that I hadn't baked any for ages so I did just that.  My recipe made 2 loaves and they didn't look as pretty as the one on Pinterest but it tastes just fine. Sure makes nice toast for breakfast.

This is all that is left from that first loaf I made.  The picture is wonky but I dare not mess with it. I've been having "issues" with my computer lately :(

I used some of the last of my bag of pears to make these muffins.

The next door neighbour's Red Maple ( I think that's what it is) dropped almost all its leaves overnight and left this beautiful red carpet.

And that's about it for today. Thank you for the sweet comments on my Bunny in my last post.  She has a nice 2 room hutch that DH made for her and it stands in a very sheltered spot out of the wind and rain.  She grows a thick winter coat and has made it through 7 winters so far.  Son and DIL have a bunny in a cage in their livingroom and it is allowed out supervised. That works for them but neither DH nor I wanted to have ours in the house.  GM

  1. That spread of maple leaves is quite brilliant!

You reminded me that I want to make some kind of quick bread with fruit in it. And then toast it - yum.

  5. People joke about fruitcake, but I love it. Yours looks good! I suppose it is more of a bread than a cake.

  6. A slice of your bread sure would be good with my coffee this morning!! Someone has a lot of raking to do, but the red leaves are pretty on the ground. Yes, I am very grateful for all the blessings and provisions God has showered on Mr D and I. Hope your day is wonderful.

I did buy that book in Kindle format...Always Pack a Candle. I may be slow reading it, but it is going to be very, very good! Thank you for showing it. I would probably never have run across it otherwise.

  14. My first thought when I saw that loaf of bread was delicious for toast and it sounds like it was.
As much as I hate to see the trees lose their leaves, that is a beautiful red carpet.
We had our rabbit in the house for awhile until I got tired of the mess of the little droppings escaping the cage. It was relocated to a cozy spot under the steps in the garage where it was very happy for several more years.

  19. I bet your house smelled amazing baking those goodies. I love the fall and to bake now is so filled with joy. That Maple tree carpet is so pretty,( eye candy) if you lived by me, these knuckleheads would be out with their noisy blowers taking them away, these are the same ones who fertilize everything so no weeds exist... somebody could tell them if they would listen, that the leaves compost and make great fertilize. It is by God's design. (no chemical needed). Doesn't the fall have a nice smell, the leaves & the earth, very comforting.

  20. The leaf rug looks very nice When they are dry you can make compost to use as food for the soil in your garden. I'd like to try that bread!
