It's only 44 days until Christmas, did you know that? I realize that for those who are thinking Thanksgiving it's probably not an issue yet. But I'm ready to start thinking about Advent and Christmas. Tomorrow being a holiday (Remembrance Day) I'll ask one of my sons to bring the tree out of storage. No, I'm not going to decorate it just yet. Just "fluff" it up a bit and get it ready.
Our weather continues to be chilly and tomorrow's forecast is for a chance of flurries. We'll have to wait and see. I don't like the time change but I admit that the brighter mornings are nice. We don't have to carry a flashlight in order to see where we're going.
Nothing much is happening around here. I'm hard pressed to find anything to post about. Just wanted to say HI and I hope you're having a good day. GM
No Christmas here until after Thanksgiving, but then it happens pretty fast. Well, maybe not so fast now that I am less mobile. I have committed myself to hosting Thanksgiving dinner, and to a sewing project for an elder friend that I am way behind on. It seems like just living is taking up most of my time now.
ReplyDelete44 days!
ReplyDeleteI think I may well start to write some Christmas Cards soon ...
All the best Jan
I say decorate it all if you want to. Why do so many think it's too early y'wonder. It's all about the spirit in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteHard to believe Christmas is coming around already!!
ReplyDeleteI didn't needto hear that!
ReplyDeleteI feel Christmas coming.. In our town they put already a big Christmas-tree in the middle of the town, but still without candles. Next days i will fetch some fin branches for decorating our chruch and my house. Time is running fast. Too fast? I love this time of waiting for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteNice St. Nikolaus pictures in your header. The weather here is rather warm and sunny...
44 days certainly woke me up! I won't be decorating quite yet, but there are plenty of other things I'd like to do to get ready.
ReplyDeleteOnly 44 days! Yikes! I had to smile at your plans to “fluff” the tree. I am thinking I will start decorating the Shanty, but will wait until after Thanksgiving to put up the tree. Cold weather is headed our way too. The weather guy says we might see our first snowflakes.
ReplyDeleteThat isn't many days! I don't like the dark afternoons and will be glad when we get to Christmas because it starts to get lighter everyday after that. Dreary here:(
ReplyDeleteHello and I hope you had a wonderful day too my friend!
ReplyDeleteI wait until after Thanksgiving to decorate for Christmas, but often, our adult children who are visiting want to see the Christmas tree since they won't be there for Christmas. Mandy and Alex are VERY vocal about that. So they drag the tree out and put it up, going through all of the ornaments just like they have always done and remembering each one. I LOVE it! I hear their memories and I don't have to do the physical labor! I did start addressing cards yesterday because I need to put our new address in them for people before they send cards out. I think I'll mail them the day before Thanksgiving and that way they'll get them the next week. I still have lots to finish knitting before Christmas but with all of the fun new things here, I'm finding it hard to sit in the apartment and knit.
Tomorrow is a Thank you lunch for the Veteran's especially and to all of the residents from the managment staff. An entire Thanksgiving dinner!
Have a wonderful Friday!
Blessings and hugs,
Betsy
Hi G.M. We are in Spring and I was certainly glad to see the end of Winter. It was 26Deg C today - a bit hot and we'll be back into shorts and 'T' shirts soon. Best Wishes. KEV.
ReplyDeleteWell, "HI" right back at you. I don't like the early evenings either, they take some getting use to, don't they? But, like you said the morning are much nicer. It's easier to crawl out of bed when it's not dark outside :)
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping you have a lovely weekend and enjoy that fact that you are already finding a joy in the planning of your Christmas season. Maybe it's the little girl in you shining out with all the anticipation of the excitement of Christmas. :)
Many greetings to you.
ReplyDeleteWe're still in the most beautiful autumn with sun and blue skies... that's not always the case, but this year autumn is perfect, just to enjoy.
Frost is supposed to come next week, then I'll also think about Christmas :-)
Look forward to the preparations... I love to bake e.g. many different small biscuits. Splendid.
Hug - Viola
44 days doesn't sound like very many. Funny how it seems to sneak up on us every year. I'm trying to get Thanksgiving sorted right now. After that, I'll be in full Christmas mode.
ReplyDeleteThis time of year goes by so fast.
ReplyDeleteHi back to you Granny! Yes, we're getting ready for our Thanksgiving around here. Trying to get Christmas hints out of everybody so I don't have to shop at the last minute. We will put up our tree and decorations when we get home from Thanksgiving visits, probably the Saturday after. Hope I can find a Mince pie for Thanksgiving. My mom made the very best.
ReplyDeleteThat is not very far away, and we have a lot happening here before then. I love your Christmas postcards, very pretty :)
ReplyDeleteChristmas will be here before we realize it! With our Thanksgiving so late (which I dislike), it makes the feeling of Christmas be delayed, and then it's all crammed in a few weeks. So hurried. I have shopping to do!
