It's a fairly pleasant day, a mix of sun and cloud. Last night the temperature dipped down to minus 4 but by noon it had risen to plus 5. On our walk we noticed that the lake is beginning to get a layer of ice all over. The forecast for next week is for slightly higher temps with rain, so the ice might melt quickly.
Do you make "Nuts and Bolts"? It's a big favourite around here and I only make it around Christmas.
( yes, I'm a bit early which may well mean a second batch will have to be made). If you are not familiar with it you can find many recipes on the internet. I took the first picture before I baked it. Then after it cooled I filled an ice cream pail which has a tight-fitting lid to keep moisture out. Not that it will last long around here.
I know many of you have your Thanksgiving celebration this week and are busy getting ready for that.
I hope you have a blessed day with your families and/or friends, or just a quiet time of reflection by yourselves.

I've never heard of nuts and bolts!!
ReplyDeleteMy mother made nuts and bolts, and I loved it! You've brought back a great memory.
ReplyDeleteTo celebrate Thanksgiving is good for our hearts. We have Thanksgiving at the beginning of October.
ReplyDeleteYou have nice weather. We had today our first snow. We had a funeral in the forest of the dear husband of my dear elder sister. We say THANK YOU LORD, that we could share many years with him.
Oh fun! Looks like great snacking! 🥰
ReplyDeleteI love nuts and bolts, and make it most years. I've found that it freezes well. And keeping it in the freezer seems to reduce some of the temptation of snacking. It's very tempting!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your Thanksgiving wishes for those of us celebrating that Holiday this coming week. We will travel about four hours to our daughter's house and spend 4 days there before heading back home. We will have turkey and all the trimmings. I'm praying for good, not icy or snowy roads to travel on.
ReplyDeleteSafe travels, Diane. Have a wonderful time with your loved ones.
DeleteOh yes....nuts and bolts are very popular here!
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of Nuts and Bolts. I'll have to look it up sometime. We had snow flurries off and on and very cold, but no accumulations of snow, unlike New York. I have no complaints since I'm nice and warm inside. I wrapped some Christmas gifts since we'll exchange gifts with Alex's family when they come for Thanksgiving. Also planning our Thanksgiving meal with family. Lots to do this week!
ReplyDeleteBlessings and love,
Betsy
We have still not had a frosty morning right here where we live! And now it looks like the rain will come o nly on Tuesday. We will be setting a record dry spell for the month of November.
ReplyDeleteI've eaten this a lot but never knew it was called us & bolts
ReplyDeleteI make something similar called Chex Mix, we like it too!
ReplyDeleteI like Nuts 'n' Bolts or Chex Mix or anything crunchy-snacky-savory like that way too much! I won't mind if someone serves it at a party, but I should try hard to keep it out of my house :-)
ReplyDeleteI'd forgotten about that snack! Haven't had it in years. We did have a lovely (BIG) Thanksgiving at church. Lots of work, but very fun :)
