A Quiet Sunday

It's a quiet Sunday, mostly sunny and very comfortable temperature.  I spent some time outside puttering. It seems very quiet  with DH and youngest son gone for the week visiting family in Manitoba.

When I did my grocery shopping another 3 miniature roses jumped into my cart. I was forced to bring them home. I transplanted them into terracotta pots and lined them up in the sunroom window. I hope they do well.

My Irises grow too tall and they often fall over with the weight of the blooms.  So I bring them in.

My one and only Peony is blooming and I've brought in a few blooms  to enjoy on the table.

I'm off to read on the porch. I hope you're having a lovely Sunday too.    GM

  1. Oh I love those roses! It's been a quiet Sunday afternoon at my house too. All my children had plans after church today so it was somewhat quite around my house. Happy Week to you. Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  5. I'm so happy you are enjoying your alone time. It is precious! I love your roses! We bought 5 new bushes yesterday and planted them just awhile ago. One is a miniature knock out red rose. First I have seen.
We are closing down our time here at the ranch this month.
To answer your question about smokers - yes, they calm the bees down and we can smoke them off of each other when they really swarm us. We never go in the apiary without at least one smoker and two is best in case one goes out.
When we were new at this beekeeping, we were helping our 'mentor' harvest honey and he did NOT take a smoker and Sherry was stung hundreds of times and had to be rushed to the ER and was unresponsive when we got her there. Scary! We now have an epi pen and several smokers!!

  6. I love that cartoon. Dennis and I are always amazed at the beauty all around us. Your sweet little roses look so happy lined up on the window sill. I was able to get some flowers at the church this morning. There were a lot of little vases of flowers from a graduation party last night. They brought them to decorate the front of the church this morning and told people to take them home, just please bring the vases back next Sunday. I thought that was really nice.
Love your peonies. I do miss the ones I had in Spokane. I hope you've had a lovely Sunday.
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

  8. Yes I have the same problem with yarn jumping in my cart! Those mini roses are so cute...I planted some outside one year and they did well in the ground all summer:)

  9. Funny how that happens, that certain plants find a way to our hearts and shopping carts! You've shown us quite a few "dazzling" items here today...

  13. Your little roses look like they will do good there. You just have a way with flowers. We had a chilly, very rainy Sunday and today has been much the same.

  14. I'm a sucker for grocery store plants. I have two hibiscus, one sad dogwood, and two primroses that started in the sale bin. Your irises are beautiful. I have some of the white and purple ones. They are so sharp. Thanks for sharing.

The mini roses added instant cheer to your windowsill.

  16. My irises will also go in a vase! They are too tall and bending dangerously.
As I can see many plants jump into your cart! So does it happen to me! 😆
