Thursday Chit Chat

Lovely morning. There was one boat on the lake. The high-rise made quite a reflection!!

Two goose families appear to have joined forces. Grandson said he counted 23 goslings all together.

Catherine (My Home and My Garden is her blog) had a question about my teacups in the garden.
I hope this picture  is  a help.

I'm sad today because a number of beautiful old trees are being cut down to make room for a building that will house medical offices. So often before I go to bed I look out the bathroom window and say Good Night to those trees.  Not only will I miss seeing them but after this  the view will be of the hospital and parking lot. I know it makes sense to build this new building close to the existing hospital but did they really have to take down all the trees?

Sorry for the awful picture with the neighbour's basketball hoop and fence.  If you look carefully you can see the fellow with the saw up in the bucket of a truck.

It was 11C this morning with clear skies. As the day goes on it will no doubt be warm as it has been for the past few days. Tonight clouds move in and Friday, Saturday and Sunday will have showers. Doesn't matter to us but I do feel sorry for people who wait for the weekend to enjoy the outdoors only to have rain.

Thanks for visiting,   GM

  2. It always makes me feel sad to see healthy trees get cut down. I think they are like the flowers in your saying - medicine to the soul :)

  5. Taking down trees is truly a loss, both for the view and for the good they do our planet. The reflections in the lake are so clear.

  6. Sorry you're losing some beautiful big trees that you love to look at. That would make me sad too.

  7. I can only imagine how sad it is for you to lose those pretty trees. I do understand like you the need for the medical building to be near the hospital, but it's still very sad. Love the goslings. That is quite a "herd" of them. I have no idea what a bunch of goslings are called. :-) We sign papers for our new condo tomorrow and begin yet another move. I'm more than sad to leave here and the friends we've made, but excited to have our own place again. Hoping against hope we don't have rain this weekend.
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

  8. I also don’t like when trees are cut down so many trees are being cut to be replaced by buildings. The goslings are very cute I am glad we go to Netherlands where there are many geese.
( thank you for the help I will try to do the same with my tea cups)

  9. Oh I can feel with you because of the trees! Trees are friends! To cut them is painful for us, because we are their neighbours and friends. The trees give us shelter from unly views and give us the songs of birds and the whisper of the leaves and needles. Oh I often had to see and to suffer such a killing! - - - I believe also the trees come to heaven! "Joy, cedars of the Libanon" are some words in the Holy Bible. I hope, they will plant new trees, but it takes a very long time until they grow up..

We have actual in the Bavarian Forest nearly the same weather!!!

  11. What a lovely photo of the reflections on the lake...so vivid.
Look at all those baby geese...Im not sure if you can call geese cute...but they are!
Trees frame the landscape beautifully.. and its such a shame when they are cut down. What a shame!

  14. So sad to see so many trees being cut down. We had to cut two large pines down last fall because of disease and I miss seeing them.

  15. I can only imagine the loss you are feeling about those tress. What a shame!. At first I couldn't spot the guy in the bucket but then when I did it gave perspective to how humungous those trees are! It infuriates me when they say "save our wetlands and save the natural habitats" for our wildlife and then they cut down such beautiful trees or drain swamps so they can make yet another housing development or highrise. (Sorry for the rant.)

  16. Awe, just look at the adorable goslings! So adorable. Oh girl, I totally get it about the trees. We grew acre's of pines years ago to cut and harvest one day and I am already having a sad bout thinking about cutting them. Though we planted to cut to be an aid to income when Marty retires one day it just makes me so sad thinking about the ugliness there will be for a time on that land. Anyway, I am sad for you though. I hope your May is wonderfully blessed GM. Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  17. I have quite similar conversations with myself about things like the trees. One question I always wonder is how much ground is under pavement/asphalt/concrete. I bet we would be astonished. Yet I use those streets almost every day and thankful to have them.
