Petunias

Yesterday Eldest Daughter and GD Kate came by to pick me up and take me along to the Plant Shop we like the best. They seem to have to best prices and often have unadvertised specials.  I was there 2 weeks ago and bought too many plants so I decided to have more restraint this time.  Well, I didn't exactly succeed.  I had bought some Petunias last visit but now there were gorgeous double ones and I could not resist.

These are the ones I got earlier. Pretty but not nearly as fancy as the doubles.

Last time I picked up a Chocolate Mint and after I got home I was sorry I hadn't bought an Orange Mint as well so I did that this time.  I use a lot of Mint in pitchers of water mainly from my large pot of Spearmint which I've had for many years. I have to dump the entire pot out and divide it every year. It gets very root-bound.  Usually there's no problem finding friends that want a wedge. If nothing else I can take it to the thrift store. They'll be happy to have it and no doubt it will be sold by the end of the day.

It's a cool and partly cloudy day. I've done some housework, picked a new bouquet of Peonies for the table and done 2 loads of laundry.  Time to sit on the porch.

Thanks for visiting today,   GM

  1. yes, sitting on the porch is a good thing, you were busy & productive. Plants are so pretty. I have Mojito mint, and will take over even though I pull it, the leaves are pretty, and on a hot day we will Mojitos. 85 here today, cant sit out on the glider until after the sun goes around, way to hot.

  2. Petunias are just the best for colour and for filling a bed. You have some very pretty ones.

  4. Oh Granny I love all of your petunias...but especially the pink and white doubles! We have gone from cold weather to hot ...which is a bit too warm for me. I would love to have temps in the 70's all summer. Oh well. I guess before we know it, it will be Fall again....so I'll stop complaining. Love all your flower pictures! How fun that your daughter and GD come to take you shopping for flowers! Lucky you!

  5. I've got my basket of pansies and that's it this year. Mayve next year we'll do more. Your flowers are all beautiful. My sister, niece and I ae going to Lauritzen gardens tomorrow. It's suppose to be really warm. In the 90's and very humid. We're going to ge there first so hopefully will avoid the hottest part of the day. We're having a girls week of just doing things together without leaving town. After the the garden we'll go to the antiques mall on the highway.
    Blessings,

  6. I can never resist a few pots of petunias scattered about. I enjoy sitting on the porch at day’s end but lately I have been watering plants at that time. We are needing rain. Mary @ Hilltop Post

  8. Sometimes I think plant shops can be dangerous places to visit! Yesterday I bought Iceland poppies, stock and white alyssum. Will have to wait a few months for the petunias :)
