This and That

We saw the cutest baby bunnies in the park. So adorably sweet ( but no pictures).

We saw more goose families....

I wonder what kind of tree this is. It's quite pretty and I hope someone can identify it.

Now here's something easily identified, right in our backyard. This little raccoon must have strayed from his (or her) mom and decided to stay up in a tree until it was safe to come down.

I've had a lovely day getting some weeds pulled with M  giving me a hand. Later I did a load of laundry and got some reading done. So the days go by. I hope you had a pleasant day.

Thanks for visiting,   Granny M

  1. That tree reminds me of a crepe myrtle, not sure if that's what it is. Good to hear you're having pleasant days, we are too. :)

  2. I have never seen this tree before. The raccoon is cute, we don’t have raccoons here. Nice you enjoyed your day!

  3. This is a chestnut-tree. W have a lot of them. Either with red or with white "candles". In autumn it makes lovely "wooden" fruits, and all children collect them.
I never saw a raccoon here in the Bavarian Forest and nowhere. Hope this cheeky animal fond back to its mother.
But raccoons become more in our country now...
    Lovely ducks everywhere you walk!
I also have everry Monday laundary- and cleaning day :)

  6. The days are flying by way too fast. That always happens in the spring. I love the raccoons, but not everyone shares that sentiment. Great shot of the little darling.

  7. How nice to have such a lovely place to walk every day and see the seasons change. That sweet goose family will be fun to watch grow up. We have lots of bunnies in the field by the garden. Zoey is very enamored of them.
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

  8. We have a raccoon that lives in an old tree out back.
I've seen the tree before but don't know what it is. I'm sure someone will know!

  10. That tree is a variety of chestnut, I believe.

  11. The leaf and flower form reminded me of our California Buckeye, which is a horse chestnut. I pointed my Seek app at your picture and it tells me it is a Red Horse Chestnut, Aesculus carnea, "an artificial hybrid between red buckeye and horse chestnut." So there you go!

  12. I believe your tree is Aesculus hippocastanum, which we usually call a Horse Chestnut (it also comes with white flowers). It is quite a striking tree when in flower, and later on gives "conkers" for children to play with :)

  14. Oh how cute the goose family...
Yes, exactly, the tree with the pink flowers is a chestnut (Castanea). You can see a young tree in your photo. At the age of 10 to 15 years, the first fruits appear in September/October ... as shown by their pink flowers. This variety is inedible for humans... (there is also an edible species, the sweet chestnut)
The tree is about 30 meters high when fully grown and can live to be about 300 years old. There are many chestnut trees in my area.
    Greetings from Viola.
I am looking forward to your visit :-)))
