Library Books

Very slowly I'm putting my Christmas things away.  This day it was one of the nativity sets . This set is made of unfinished wood and was lacking a manger for baby Jesus so we had to make one.

I finished my library books. Miss Eliza's English Kitchen was disappointing, The Tracy Chevalier ( A Single Thread) I just couldn't get into and gave up. The Secret Book Of Flora Lea was okay but the most enjoyable one was The Museum of Ordinary People. Here's what the 'net had to say about it.

Still reeling from the sudden death of her mother, Jess is about to do the hardest thing she's ever done: empty her childhood home so that it can be sold.

But when in the process Jess stumbles across the mysterious Alex, together they become custodians of a strange archive of letters, photographs, curios and collections known as The Museum of Ordinary People.

As they begin to delve into the history of the objects in their care, Alex and Jess not only unravel heartbreaking stories that span generations and continents, but also unearth long buried secrets that lie much closer to home.

So we're going into a new week, one in which there are no holidays. That should help us feel like things are back to normal again. That's it for today. Thanks for visiting.

  1. Hello Granny M! It feels good to get myself back online. A belated Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year! I love your nativity set. It sounds like you didn't have very good luck with your book choices this week. I often find myself rereading previous choices because I can't find something new that is satisfying. I may have to check out your favorite selection. Here's to getting back to ordinary time.

  6. At least one of the books was good. One thing good about the library is that the books are free. :)

  8. I have a nativity just like yours. My mom gave it to me years ago. Trying to get back into the swing of things, but our strange weather is throwing everything off!

  10. Slowly we go step by step away from the holy stable into the tasks in the "normal" world. We are full of Christmas and holidays and the "cold shower" may be good after all these holidays: Jesus had no problem to refuse romantic feelings..
