My Day

I had two jobs I wanted to accomplish today. One was making jam....Strawberry/Blackberry  and also Raspberry.  That went well and I moved on to the second job........

.......which was tidying the spice shelves. I took everything out, wiped the surfaces and began putting all the little jars back. Top row holds seldom used ones like dry mustard, sage, star anise and ground anise.  Second row: celery seed, celery salt, crushed chilies, roasted garlic and Everything bagel.

Third row: whole cloves, ground cloves, allspice, nutmeg, ginger, cinnamon.  On the lowest row
( hadn't done it yet) oregano, basil, chili powder, Montreal steak spice, and Uncle Dan's dip mix.

In the cupboard itself the top shelf ( which I can't reach without my little bench) I have sea salt, coarse sugar, and a little box where I keep various extracts ( lemon, almond, etc..) and cream of tartar ( which I rarely use). Then I tried to organize all the rest of the mess. I didn't take a picture because it was only somewhat better than it was before.  But it's done now. Tomorrow's job involves going through my recipes and getting rid of some while organizing the rest.

So that's my day's efforts. Oh yes, I finished Always pack a Candle and I see there's a sequel which I will look for.

Thanks for visiting.

  1. Oh the dreaded spice cabinet! I cleaned out and organized mine just before the holidays and I'm trying to keep it neat. The jams sound delish, especially the raspberry one. The cartoon is funny :)

  2. I like the quote!
You did a good job! Nearly Spring cleaning?
I will do the same with my recipes tomorrow.

  3. First of all, before I forget, that meme is made for me! I really, really like the way your cabinet was made with the spice rack in the door. I sure could use something like that. I've been trying to do two or three chores a day too, in addition to the day to day things. How in the world have we colleted so much stuff when we've only lived here less than two years?
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

  4. That's a lot accomplished. So far today I have done my hour of PT and shopped at Costco, which always means repackaging some things. Now I am ready to organize my post-op meds and make a chart. Then it will be time to start the pot roast.

  9. Your spice racks are very well organized. It seems like there is a lot of cleaning and organizing going on in blog land these days. You've accomplished a lot with the jam making and sorting through things.

  10. You got more done than me! I hung up three shirts out of the dryer, went and got a covid shot, made a sandwich for lunch and took a nap. Hopefully today will be more productive but I am not betting my money one it!

  11. You have been a busy lady! Everything looks great. I just finished organizing the lazy Susan feature in my bottom corner cupboard. It's so nice to be able to find what I am looking for now.

  12. Great job on organizing your spices! I store mine on the bottom shelf of the cabinet next to the stove. It has to be re-organized regularly. Enjoy your jam, yummy!

January is a good month for getting things cleaned and organized. It feels so good when it's done, doesn't it?

  15. I love that job, although I don't do it as often as I should. All the good smells! Your cupboard looks great. And so does the jam.
I sorted some recipes a couple weeks ago and tossed one recipe box entirely. It is hard to let some of the handwritten cards go--ones from my mother or sisters or friends now gone.
