Tuesday's Thrifty Finds

After a cloudy morning the sun came out. I hope it stays out because I want to do some outside work later.  As usual I went to the thrift store this Tuesday morning and found more pretty things to prettify
( probably not a word) my house.  Don't worry though, I'll be putting hopefully an equal amount of things in the 'donate' box. I like to change things around if I can do it cheaply.

This cute little cupboard was the first thing I spotted. It was in a display of Christmas things but I think that thing on the front is a topiary, not a Christmas tree.

I had just the right tiny dishes to put in it!

Black wooden lantern with the glass all intact.

I already had the white ceramic pumpkins and the pine cone.

You must have suspected that there would be a teacup or two somewhere in my post and you were right.  These two cheery sets are not bone china or anything special but I like them ( and they were cheap).

I hope you enjoyed a peek at my 'finds'.  Have a wonderful day!!!

  3. I found a comment you had made over on Happy at Home with Kim and so I clicked on your blog to see what you are all about and the first thing I see just about is that you recently read "It's a Three Dog Life". I read that book several years ago on my Kindle and then ordered a hard copy. I could so relate to the author's story. Mine was different in many ways but so similiar in others. My husband had Alzheimers, her's a severe head injury. I have read that book time and again. It somehow comforts me. So, I just had to follow you 'cause that was a real connection for me.. us readers reading the same book and such. See you around...

  6. Oh, you are so good at seeing gold...love what you did with both the wooden lantern and the cute little cupboard.

As for the teacups, who really cares if they are bone china or not, when they are pretty and make your heart sing? And these do.

  9. Oh, the fun of it all... And, what lovely pieces you brought home! I am trying to see how long I can wait before going back to my favorite antique market. I keep thinking about a couple of things I would have liked to bring home. I wonder if they are still there....

  10. I love thrift store shopping and often find little "treasures" to take home. I had a friend once who bought all her clothes this way and so always had different things to wear as she had a policy of removing one item of clothing, and donating it back to the store, each time she bought something new. I wish I could learn to be as disciplined!

  12. If I found a cute little cupboard like that I'd be squealing happily all the way to the checkout! I have tiny tea things, too, and that would be perfect! Both those teacups and saucers are beautiful. Last week when I was in the vicinity of the local Goodwill store, i thought of you and decided to see what I could find. Meh, no teacups or saucers, unfortunately, but I sure had a good time just looking everything over. It was actually a great stress reliever – I felt so much happier when I left. Blessings to you, GM!

  13. Great finds! I went to the thrift store yesterday too. Good sales. I bought 4 tops for Adam and one for me. We were swapping out our seasonal clothes and realized we were a bit low on sweaters.
I'm wondering if you could carefully take that tree off the front of the cupboard - would you want to? I LOVE the tiny dishes in there!

  14. I love that little cabinet!

My, you always find such beautiful tea cups.
Our Thrift store isn't anything like yours and they charge way too much.

    Happy day to you ♡

  15. Hi, How do you manage to find so many tea cups! Those bottom two are sue different. When I buy something I want to keep it for quite awhile so would not do well doing the changing out as you do. Nancy
