A Bird and a Leaf
I had a lovely walk this morning. DH was gone to his volunteering 'job' and I took my time. Sat on a bench by the lake and watched this little bird for a long time. I sat still and it came quite close as it pecked for breakfast(?).
This leaf captured my attention. It was lying with its white side up. I turned it over to see what that side looked like. It looks like a Maple leaf but I've never noticed Maple leaves to be white on the back. Maybe someone can enlighten me. There's so much I wish I knew about nature. Whether it's birds or trees/leaves.
I hope you had a good day too!!
Thanks for coming by, GM

That maple leaf also showed up on the gardening group I belong to on Facebook. Silver Maple someone said. I think I remember having those trees with that white leaf when we lived on Matsqui Prairie near Clayburn Village. They were a weed tree and sent shoots up in the lawn.
ReplyDeleteI just love your bird and a leaf! There's so much to see if we only slow down and take the time.
ReplyDeleteHmmm...A Silver Maple? I only think that because I actually saw my 1st one ever the other day, it caught my eye because it was shimmering in the sunshine. I looked it up, they are green on one side and light colored on the back. I took a picture I'll have to post it. I thought it was so pretty.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute little bird.
ReplyDeleteThe leaf looks like a maple to me too.
Well, it certainly looks like a maple leaf, but there are several types. I just Google everything myself, lol. We seem to have a lot of juncos in our yard. Happy trails to you!
ReplyDeleteIt looks a bit like a type of Maple leaf to me.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a lovely spot to sit and enjoy nature for a while.
How nice of the bird to cooperate with you! I would have loved to be sitting there just watching, too. I don't know why that leaf is so white on the back...that is sort of strange.
ReplyDeleteThe bird photos are really cool.
ReplyDeleteI saw an ornamental maple this summer that was red on the top and white on the underside. It looked about like that one.
ReplyDeleteWish I could have been sitting on the bench with you. I love watching nature. I've never seen a leaf like that, even though it does look like a maple.
ReplyDeleteOh I adore the bird pictures. I feel I can just reach and touch one! Looks like a maple leaf to me. Happy Day to you. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteToomorrow if nothing happens I will take pictures of leaves here...there are a bunch that are partially white. (Knowing my luck it will rain) I don't ever remember seeing them so white before. I thought I had seen them with some white...
ReplyDeleteSilver Maple is my best guess, they are shimmery underneath:)
ReplyDeleteThat is a strange leaf! Maybe it was bleached by the sun? Interesting. We don't have as many maples down here.
