It's full moon tonight. I'm glad I saw it last night because there's some cloud moving in and chances are that by the time the moon rises I won't get a clear view.. This is the last full moon of winter and it's called the Worm Moon. Why?
The Farmers' Almanac says the moon got its nickname because the ground in the northern latitudes begins to soften during the month allowing earthworms to appear.

A few more things from the past that you may remember..... I remember my mom giving me a Toni once upon a time. I was maybe 7.
This is the kind of washing machine I used when we first were married.
Do you remember Jukeboxes? How about mirror, brush & comb sets. I have one on my dresser but it's only for looks. The brush is quite useless for my hair. Pretty though.
Thanks for visiting,
Granny Marigold
I remember the Toni..the smell. I have a mirror/brush set that belonged to one of my relatives. It is packed away in some box. I have ended up with a lot of things that belonged to my Aunts and Mother. Way too much stuff!
ReplyDeleteTake Care,
Kaye
I remember all of these things. I helped my mother do the laundry using a similar wringer washer, but never had one of my own. Mary @ Hilltop Post.
ReplyDeleteOh yes...I remember the "smell's of permanent wave solution more than anything
ReplyDeleteAnd juke boxes (I still see them occasionally in bars)
I'm loving the walks down memory lane! I remember all these things...

Such memories! I remember my Oma having a mirror brush set!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo of the moon. My aunt had a wringer washer and I loved helping her do the laundry. I once posted about loving to use her wringer washer and her daughters sent me messages that they loved when I went to visit in the summer because I took over the laundry chore which they all hated. One cousin wrote, "You loved mom's washer and we loved you all the more because if it!"
ReplyDeleteI never had a Toni but do remember them.
ReplyDeleteMy mom had one of those washing machines but I never did.
Juke boxes yes. The little ones in booths at diners and the big ones too.
The brush and mirror sets I also remember but never had one.
I looked at the Full Moon last night but never thought about worms! Love your dressing table set. I inherited one from my grandmother but it was on its last legs and I have now let it move on. My other grandmother used to have a wringer washer like the one you show :)
ReplyDeleteI remember all but the little china set of deer. Those perms were absolutely eye-watering!
ReplyDeleteI had home permanents, my mother used a wringer washing machine like that and I have a dresser set like that too.
ReplyDeleteAH! Worm Moon!!! Very interesting! Thank you for the explanation!
ReplyDeleteFunny old d things! Look, the washing machine!!!
I love the deer with the babies :)
We had rain mixed with snow today....no moon this night...
I had a washing machine like that, too and I was so proud of it. I also lived a few years using a wash board, that one did not put a smile on my face (or my red knuckles either).
ReplyDeleteI did see the worm moon the other night when it was clear, and really cold. Beautiful. The dresser set is lovely, and yes those brushes didn't make it through my hair either. Love the little deer family, and the Jukeboxes....memories lovely memories.
ReplyDeleteI have been trying to read through and not post comments because of time...but I cannot resist on this. I used to help mom do the washing on a wringer washer, and often wish I had one now! (I hate my new water saver washing machine.)
ReplyDeleteI do remember juke boxes...could never resist playing a few songs on them...
Someone tried giving me a perm one time, but my hair did not curl...this when I was a kid. My mom always had someone give her a perm...she usually used Lilt.
