It was 20C when we left the house at 7, cloudy with a cool breeze. Now, at 2:30, the temperature has risen to 25 but the breeze is keeping it pleasant for working. Youngest Son came for an hour of serious digging for a new path in the back garden. He began laying down ,I think they're called patio squares that we already had. It's going to look much better plus as he dug he removed many invasive Lily-of-the-Valley roots. I think they're a lovely flower but they are so very invasive. I wish I had never planted any.
Our pole beans are doing well. We have sowed them in 3 different spots ( wherever there's sunshine).
These are Scarlet Runners . Hummingbirds like the red blossoms.
Below is also a picture of one of our Clematis. Blogger has chosen where the picture goes.
I'm taking advantage of the coolness and baking bread. What are you busy doing this July afternoon?
I saw this and thought of those of you who do various crafts ....
We ate birthday cake out on the front porch this afternoon. :)
ReplyDeleteI am doing very little this afternoon. I took a long lunch and read the paper, I finished my afternoon session of PT, caught up again with Facebook and your blog, and worked today's Wordle. We are going out to dinner to get my free birthday burger at Red Robin, so I am not preparing dinner. We will walk at the little park this evening. It's a beautiful afternoon, not hot, not cold.
ReplyDeleteWhat a blessing to have a good son (or more)!!! Your garden is a paradise, and even the wilderness is really blessed. The clematis is wonderful! The beans are big and rich and full of flowers compliment!
ReplyDeleteAfter cleaning the house like every Monday i spend some time on my sofa to collect new energy for the sheep. I expected the vet for one of my sheep, because she had some problems with her eye. The vet could help and I am very glad. It is unusual hot and dry in the Bavarian Forest. All plants are thirsty!
Your garden is so nice! I loved that note about crafters, it is so true :D
ReplyDeleteYour clematis is amazing!
ReplyDeleteIt's so hot here...105*
ReplyDeleteIt's Taco Tuesday...going to Rosa's Restaurant for tacos!
Happy week!
hugs
Donna
It been very humid, so even when the temp is ok, it feels very close. I like the sign about the craft store. At one time that was a very dangerous place for me. I'm more controlled now. Well a little bit more so, if I go in, I come out with what I went in for if they have it, and that is all.Arn't I a good girl? :)
ReplyDeletePerhaps your youngest son could come my way and help me out with some digging, lol. I have been digging out some daylilies as part of my weeding though we seem to have an influx of voles that make me shudder when they run past me in the flowerbeds. I too have red runner beans but they never seem to set on many beans.so I plant them for their flowers and manage to get just even pods that ripen to provide enough seed for the next year. I have tried the "Painted Lady" variety and have found that they too bloom but do not produce well for me.

Your yard looks so lovely. I know what you mean when you say you wish you had never planted lily of the valley. I made that mistake too and they are so invasive, we have them coming up in the hedge 5 feet away from the original plants. (C)
ReplyDeleteYour garden is looking absolutely beautiful. What a nice son you have!
ReplyDeleteMy afternoon has been spent catching up on laundry after being gone for a week. Oh, and I finally did a blog post.
Hello! It's very humid here today. There has been rain every morning for a week now and although the temps are only in the high 70's, the humidity makes it miserable.
ReplyDeleteYou are so blessed to have a son that helps you two out with the heavy lifting, (digging!). There is always something to do when you have a yard. I love the fact that we're in the condo now and don't have to do the outdoor work in the summer anymore when it's hot.
Blessings and hugs,
Betsy
It's so good you're have pleasant temps, our heat index today is 114*. Just too hot to do much. I understand about blogger making some decisions for us on our blogs, geez!!
ReplyDeleteScarlet Runners are so pretty with their red flowers and green foliage, and I can imagine the delight of seeing humming birds visiting them :)
ReplyDeleteYour garden is very nice. Here it is cool in the mornings, but 30 in the afternoons
ReplyDeleteSo better stay inside I am working on the wardrobes and looking for what I am keeping or not and in the weekend we will go to give them to the thrift store.
